These are people who live and work in a self contained, self absorbed bubble and we are expected to suspend our lives once a year to acknowledge their antics?

I thought Chris Rock joke was funny. I think comedians need to turn it up a notch and not succumb to the cancel culture. Bring on more Ricky Gervais and Chris Rocks types. And let’s sit back and watch the punches fly. Not that’s what I would call real entertainment.

With each succeeding act of idiocy, the dogmatic Left reveals its shallow self-indulgence and willful blindness to truth. We now know Will Smith is one of the fools. Too bad, I sort of liked him.

The last thing of his I liked was The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The kids like watching the re-runs…
Then he married Jada Pinkett and became a Scientologist (which he denies). Notice the evolution of his messianic complex and his growing paranoia. Pretty much exactly how Tom Cruise has become. Both believe their own hype. Both messed up by Scientology and Hollywood.

“Hypocrisy,” is the operative term, as in the New Testament:

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.” Matt 23:27 (KJV)

Some commentators now suggest this was staged. A “movie set fight” if viewed in slo-mo. Interesting. 🤔

It was definitely staged…. because interest is at an all time low.

We’re all tired of this class of wealthy pretenders lecturing us.

There was an Oscar show last night? The last and probably best Oscar show I ever watched was in Naked Gun 33 1/3 (which has Leslie Nielsen as Lt Frank Drebin trying to avert a terrorist plot to bomb the festivities)

There was something off about it, that’s why I thought it was staged. Turns out it wasn’t staged. But there was/is something off, evidently Will Smith had an overreaction due to his emotional state in an “open marriage”.
I really don’t want to know more.
At all. At all. These people aren’t role models, they’re narcissists.

No doubt about the narcissistic streak running through all of these people. Interesting in that context is the history of the “Academy” and the whole “Oscars” project, which were devised by the original moguls who essentially created Hollywood back in the early 20th Century. Thomas Edison had control of the movie-making business in New York and elsewhere “back East”, and the Hollywood moguls, all Jewish and thus not favored by Edison, went West to build their own business, both to escape the prejudice and because the mild climate allows year-round outdoor filming. They created the Academy and the Oscars because they knew theater to be a business based largely on the oversized egos of directors, producers and actors, and they sought to encourage creative types to come West to make motion pictures by hanging the Oscars out as incentives. They guessed right, and the spectacle of an industry endlessly praising itself, while pretending that it really means something to the world, was launched. It worked so long as they produced films that most people actually wanted to see. It would seem that the formula has lost its magic, because the egos have totally taken over, and there is little or no business sense left. Thus, most of the films stink and the Big Screen no longer attracts by itself. A classic tale of killing the golden goose, perhaps.
