The US should ensure he gets his ammunition.

The U.S. should volunteer to negotiate a peace between Russia and Ukraine and stop the expansion of NATO. Sending ammunition is a bad idea as it is more fuel for the fire.

The image of the soldiers praying before the icon of our Lady is powerful. Let us equally arm them in both prayer and ammunition.

Michael Dowd.
Peace negotiations absolutely.
Until that bridge, if I was in their boots, I too would be asking for material support to fight off the invaders and defend my family, neighbors and countrymen.

Rosaries and bullets.

If Russian troops do kill Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, then he will become an unstoppable martyr.

“He played a fictional president of the Ukraine in a comedy series Servant of the People, before he was elected to be the actual president of Ukraine.”

God allows strange things to happen in His eternal wisdom. Maybe Volodymyr Zelenskyy is exactly where God wants him to be.

That was a direct swipe at Biden. Thats if he even “got” the memo considering that he is currently operating with a diminished brain capacity.

On a side note- if world goes down the sanctions route, then this might be key to Russia’s undoing. Banning Russia from accessing SWIFT. But it’s no surprise that Germany who have large interest in purchasing Russian energy, is not keen on the idea. Here’s hoping the rest of the major power players have the ultimate say. It’s been reported that Putin has around 12months before he starts to feel the uncomfortable impact of sanctions…

Russia might actually admit that they are involved in this invasion, although I wouldn’t expect them to hold to any agreement any more than they did after taking Crimea.

Negotiation is to get the details on paper. The scaffolding is the power relationships manifest in boots on the ground. No scaffolding yet.

The expansion of Nato has zilch to do with this.

Well, Putin’s complaint is that the expansion of NATO is impeding him from getting what he wants. The trouble is, what he wants is to seize other people’s territory and make other people his bitch.

This is exactly what this is.

“Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II were men of the same moment. They were both horrified by nuclear war, they both hated communism and the Soviet Union, they both had been shot but survived and they both forgave their assailants. They had also both been superior high school athletes and, curiously, both were actors before becoming the most important players on a world stage.”

“Also, beyond that, there’s a timeless story here of faith and our struggles of discernment of a Divine Plan — of the role of God in each of our lives. Reagan and John Paul II constantly sought to discern God’s will. That’s a process we all go through, or should go through. I believe that many people will find that aspect of this story not only fascinating to Reagan and John Paul II but deeply personal to each and every one of us.”

Biden and his Administration should not be part of the peace negotiation. Our weak, demented president and his leftist, green cohorts have done enough damage. Communists and totalitarians only respect strength; they disdain weakness. That is why Putin made his move. One could say that O’Bama and Biden set the stage. It was Trump who gave them the weapons the Ukrainians are fighting with.
Arms are more expedient than sanctions at this point. The Ukrainians need more missiles that can take out tanks and aircraft and ammunition for their guns. They need them now. Supposedly the Germans are sending them such missiles. It appears to be a war of attrition against the Russians. That’s why there may be a cease fire.
Even though the Holodomor (Terror – Famine) was ninety years ago, the Ukrainians remember. The famine was man made by the Soviets, principally Russians, to depopulate their nation and take over the fertile farmland. It is estimated that 4 – 7 million Ukrainians were starved to death. Present day citizens will fight to the death.
The Ukrainians are a religious people. St. Josephat, a Basilian monk in the 1600s, is their Patron Saint. He was martyred by gunfire. His remains dumped in the river. Sometime later his body surfaced and was surrounded by glowing light. St. Josephat, save the free Ukraine!

There was no leadership overhaul after the Afghanistan debacle.

Of course not. The Puppetmasters do not consider the debacle a performance issue, just an optics issue. The point of the military is to act as a toy theatre for the social fantasies of politicians and their dependents and hangers on. It’s not to win wars.

The same people who brought us Afghanistan and Iraq now want us to go into
The Ukraine. Just watch even Fox and Newsmax. The war drums are beating. How many of you are willing to send your sons and grandsons? If we do go in it will be the sons and daughters of the middle and lower classes who fight and die while the elite will make money.

The Ukraine is being invaded because the same guys who caused the problems the last umpty-squat times by doing what thugs said they wanted went and… did what Putin said.
AGAIN.
Because making it easy for violent thugs to be violent results in them being more violent.

That doesn’t require watching “Fox and Newsmax.” That just requires being somewhat awake anytime in the last several decades.

If Biden could have been bothered to not be a freaking moron on even one of several basic issues, it’d be fine. But nooooo, back down from any hint of threat, make sure that OPEC and Russia have nice, full pockets by killing American energy exports, double-down on stuff that actually works for producing power, and gosh! Things start to go bad!

The boggling thing is that the proposed solution is what failed every other freaking time in history, doing what the bully says.
And I though pulling out failed preventative measures from the Spanish Flu was lame.

Go back to 2021.
Russia is continuing to threaten Ukraine, and states that the ability of the country to defend itself is objectionable, the US (one of the few countries big enough to send the weapons) then… “pauses” the aid.

It doesn’t matter if it started up again or not, it taught the thug that all he had to do with Biden is say that a nearby victim he’d already attacked being able to defend itself was a problem, and he’d get a sympathetic reaction.

The idea that this whole situation isn’t caused by Putin is utterly bizarre.

What is the point of intellectuals but to tell us things are not as ordinary people perceive them? Much discourse by academicians and journalists and combox clowns is manifest nonsense.

With all the Russia, Russia, Russia hysteria, and the pandemic lockdown freak out, was it even possible to have a serious discussion about Russia? The media played a major role in all this.

Speaking of the pandemic, this is proof it’s over. For about two years, countries weren’t invading each other. Power-hungry politicians turned inward toward suppression. We’re likely to see a lot of outward power-grabbing in 2022.

TCT- and an above average number of folks on this blog were among the volunteers, too. 😀

One of my favorite flips on that one was while I was in the Navy, and someone went from screeching about how I needed to respect the armed forces to screeching because I wasn’t busy doing Real Work instead of being on a blog. Apparently being in the military means one works 24/7, so as to better enable those who wish to speak “for” me to do so….
