No, the Canadian Military is not Going to Move Against the Freedom Convoy

Despite the Ottawa Police briefly raising the possibility of a military intervention to clear a stubborn holdout of Freedom Convoy truckers blockading their downtown, the Canadian Armed Forces have been quick to say they will be doing no such thing. A spokesperson for the Minister of Defence told the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, “The Canadian Armed Forces are not involved in law enforcement in this situation, and there are no plans for such CAF involvement.”

Go here to read the rest.  In a democracy the military should be used only as a last resort to deal with riots that the civil power cannot deal with.  No riot is occurring now, but rather a demonstration that the civil power refuses to deal with through the police power, because the demands of The Freedom Convoy have a lot of popular support and the Freedom Convoy is using civil disobedience rather than rioting.  The military in a free state exists to defend the nation, not to make the lives of politicians easier.
