I am so grateful to have gone to college before this sort of stupidity became de rigueur.
Yet I do not blame the students. After all, they’re there precisely because they don’t know better. That’s why they’re students and not professors.
However, I do blame the administrators who enable and promote this. And the faculty that does not mock and condemn and oppose this. They do know better, and yet here we are.

I blame the students. They’re there because they don’t know principles of accounting or the works of Jane Austen. They should know how to self-regulate well enough not to engage in emotional exhibits in response to speakers they do not care for (at least not in exhibits which last longer than a few seconds); my contemporaries managed it, and we were and are far less accomplished than people 40 years our senior. In 1984, a Soviet diplomat shows up at my school, speaks to a large audience, lies his tuchus off repeatedly in the speech and in the Q & A session, and there are no incidents, hardly even a heckle. Nowadays, benign public figures like Heather Mac Donald and Dorian Abbot see their speeches cancelled because of ‘threats’ or find on arrival that the student minions of the malevolent characters in the faculty and administration have done things like buy up all the tickets to the event so they find themselves facing an empty hall with a few surly examiners or they find their speech repeatedly disrupted by demonstrators, or they discover the Q & A sessions are disfigured by obstreperous nonsense questions from trolls. And that’s when they can manage to hold a speech at all and avoid being sent to the emergency room.
The thing is, all of these youngsters are egged on by MEd holders in the student affairs and ‘diversity’ apparat, after 12 years being the charges of another set of ed school graduates. You want to know which institution is the nerve center for the ruin of our public life, look there.
Oh no. Thought rape! How cruel.
Maybe the campus could supply support staff to tuck in the kiddies and leave the door open a crack so some light comes into the bedroom.
If thoughts and ideas are so offensive to some students then they might be better off staying in their parents basement.
The rage that occured at the Berkley campus when Milos was to give a lecture..remember? Fires and destruction. Amazing and telling how campuses will fight against free speech if the speaker doesn’t fit into the indoctrination centers agenda.
Pathetic.
