A constituent asks @DanCrenshawTX what he has done to help Jan 6 prisoners being held in jail without due process.
He says he can't do anything because he has no power.

Crenshaw is a sheep in wolf’s clothing.
Update:
Dan, when in a hole, stop digging:
I don’t believe Republicans should turn into a circular firing squad, but I am not a fan. I’ve heard too much, including his attacks on MTG. We’ve had enough RINO’s in the party.
He cannot do anything directly. He can put a spotlight on their treatment and draw up plans which can be implemented in the future to punish those responsible. Note Marjorie Taylor Greene and Louis Gohmert are among the few calling attention to the treatment of the 6 January detainees. They’re willing to be outre; Crenshaw is not.
Donald Trump, by the way, has been a big disappointment in regard to this issue.
We’ve had enough RINO’s in the party.
There’s no such thing as a RINO. What you do find is careerists (Mitt Romney, Rob Portman, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, John Thune), Chamber of Commerce fellators (Mitch McConnell), histrionic types (John McCain), poltroons (Richard Burr), and inveterate score-settlers (the Cheneys).
He’s actually right in that he has no power. The Democrat leadership is ignoring any Republican outcries, and the media covers only what they choose. The only reason the media covers Greene and Gohmert is because the media keeps trying to plaster them as crazies, which doesn’t help their political careers in the long run. It also makes it easier for many people to ignore anything Greene and Gohmert might say about the abuse.
This is what happens when we allow all institutions of mass public discourse to be overthrown by the opposition. Have to at least give them credit for the long-term thinking that is lacking in most of the country right now. Of course, personally I think that long-term thinking was more something set in place 70 years ago and simply allowed to ramble off on its own ever since. To where the current supporters don’t even know what’s going on, they are just following the playbook set up by their predecessors.
Rep. Crenshaw put it rather inartfully but the fact is that the US version of the gulag is run by the executive branch and the power to do anything by the minority is limited. I concede the point that publicity may help address the situation but when most of the media will not even report on it, the effect is limited.
Yelling at someone for telling the truth worked for a couple of days on Cruz, at least enough for the most extreme supposed conservatives in comboxes to be oddly silent about his productive questioning about the whole Epps situation.
Wonder what Crenshaw is working on that has the Proggies scared this time?

What long term thinking?
Crenshaw’s problems is with conservatives not progressives.
Rep. Crenshaw put it rather inartfully
Marjorie Greene, who Crenshaw has gotten into a pissing contest with, visited the January 6 political prisoners and brought attention to their plight, as Art noted. Crenshaw has done bupkis, except make assinine statements in support of Kinzinger and Liz Cheney.
“Donald Trump, by the way, has been a big disappointment in regard to this issue.“
Trump sycophants in the conservative commentariat haven’t even hinted at asking him about that in their gush-fest interviews with him.
Crenshaw’s ads were cool; but, like James Bond, it wasn’t real.
Republicans are only ever powerless because they choose to be powerless.
They may be in the minority, but do you see the dems lie down and give up when they are in the minority?
They may be shut out of the mainstream media, but there are plenty of alternative media outlets that they could use.
“I may not be able to stop it myself, but I will do what I can” is very different from “What power do I have? What could I do?”
Note too that even if it were true that being in Congress gave Crenshaw no power whatsoever (which is obviously false) he could still have acted as a private citizen. The question was not “how will you get congress to help these people” but “what have you personally done?” So if we follow Crenshaw’s defense that he cannot do anything, even outside of his role as congressman, it means that none of his constituents can do anything either. So no one can do anything about the problem, oh well, better vote for Crenshaw again so maybe he’ll have more power next time. There’s nothing else you can do.
This is the con that grifter/failure Republicans have played for decades.
I think Crenshaw could have had better answers for both questions, but I thought we were supposed to admire “inartful” politicians these days. But the creator of that video really raised my hackles. You’ve never made a good point badly? You’ve got the grounds to question someone’s faith? Ugh.
You’ve never made a good point badly?
He wasn’t making a good point.
Here’s how Crenshaw could have dealt with that question: “Glad you brought that up. My language was inartful in that interview. I of course believe that Christ is a historical figure. He is my Lord and Savior. ” A lot better than going on the offensive and accusing the questioner of questioning his faith instead of explaining his language in the interview. Classic example of a politician freezing mentally and making a bad situation worse.
Why punch out at Trump?
How does he relate to theCrenshaw story ?
,
I think personally it is prudent, possible for the wellbeing of the political prisoners, for Trump not to speak too much.
