Jessica Rivera, one of the two co-authors of the letter, is not only not a physician, she’s not even a PhD. She has a Masters.
Even Jill Biden has a better claim on the title ‘Doctor’ than this Rivera person.
‘Misinformation’ indeed.
But Clinton, I’m sure they all identify as doctors, so it’s all cool, y’know? /s
“Is there a doctor in the house?”

You know, historically “doctor” (which translates “teacher”) belonged to the academics and not to physicians (and in Great Britain, surgeons were traditionally addressed as “mister”). But you can’t play with people’s expectations. None of my professors at the University of San Francisco in the late ’70s insisted on the title outside of a formal academic setting, or when they were speaking in matters of their field.

This is not the first time that this sort of thing happened. During the “Shut Down STEM” kerfuffle there was a letter from a list of “scientists” who supported a change to the college system to shut down “structural racism.” If you went through the list there were lots of people who couldn’t be called scientists except in the most general of senses. For example, I saw:
-Lots of graduate students
-Tutors
-Zookeepers
-Librarians
-Accountants
and lots more. Similarly consider this letter in support of the George Floyd riots (despite the obvious health concerns):

It doesn’t list the qualifications for many names, but from many that are listed it’s clear that they weren’t being picky. Lots of students, some veterinarians, some lawyers. Many don’t even list names, with one “Doctor” and three separate “Medical Students.” One entry is just “Taxpayer and Mother of Black Sons.” Colby Sato even lists the qualification of “Twitter” (seriously.)
