PopeWatch: Try Not to Laugh
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.

Perfect irony. “Pope” always reveals who he really is.
True, Michael. As with all poseurs everywhere. And I’m not sure the concept of irony even exists in the Peronist mentality displayed almost daily by this man. See, e.g., his comments yesterday chiding couples for having pets instead of children, while he glorifies and gives prominent Church positions and platforms to abortionists and population control advocates.
“I’m not sure the concept of irony even exists in the Peronist mentality displayed almost daily by this man.”
If it does the concept is not irony, but useful miss direction, virtue signaling and gaslighting.
Precisely: Personnel is policy and word service is for chumps.
And whatever else you can say about the Roman pontiff, he knows chumps when he sees them.
What would anyone expect from an avowed socialist who does not respect or care for God’s people. We have not had a Christian leader in the vatican as long as he is there.
“Let us pray for the good monks.”
