Go here to read the story. Personally I think too many saints are being recognized today and the beatification and canonization process is becoming a joke, but this smacks of Cardinal Dolan’a payback for New York losing the fight to retain the body of Sheen. Additionally, being an articulate defender of Catholicism who made many converts is doubtless a strike against Sheen at this Vatican. You know, maybe it is a good thing that Sheen not be canonized by this Pope.
Never thought of it that way….sainthood can wait, because, if he’s a saint, he’s quite comfy. Have a Blessed Christmas Don and all. Thanks for all your good work for the faith.
Donald, you are 100% correct. Sheen cause halted by Dolan and the lavender gang for that exact reason. I also suspect that they are waiting for Sheen’s last surviving relation (his neice) to pass away, then file yet another lawsuit to try to bring his remains back to NYC. Yes, these effeminates are that vindictive.
I’m going to keep calling him saint unless I’m being very technical– happens more often than you’d think 😀 — and we’re planning to go down to visit when we’ve got a little wiggle room; probably next summer’s Mommy Trip with the camper.
My bride and I still watch Life is Worth Living at least once a week thanks to EWTN and the DVR. If the pathetic hierarchy with which the faithful suffer today think they are changing anything by acting like Mean Girls™️ concerning this case, they have a large surprise coming. I agree with Foxfier, we will continue to regard Abp. Sheen as a saint regardless. And I continue to have my doubts about some of the recent canonizations and beatifications, which seem more political than anything else. Not trying to start a war of words here about whether canonizations are infallible. All I know is that I am not sure they are, and there is much room for debate. To me, the Sheen case is evidence against the proposition of infallibility. Further your affiant sayeth not. 😉
“Lord, what fools these mortals be!”
I believe Bishop Sheen is in Heaven in the ranks of the saints. Whether these mortals recognize it or not.
OT. TCM just aired John Ford’s “Three Godfathers.” I had not thought of it as a Christmas movie. My bad.
Thanks, T Shaw, I’ll check that one out!
Sheen’s extensive and honorable record of anti-Communism is out of step with the current regime.
It would make Beijing angry, for starters. Never make the money mad.
Providence might be waiting for the appropriate miracle. Say, the reversion of Pope Francis..suddenly reversing his scorn and contempt of all things traditional.
Something to pray to (s)t. Fulton Sheen for. :>)
Merry Christmas..almost!
I also suspect that they are waiting for Sheen’s last surviving relation (his neice) to pass away, then file yet another lawsuit to try to bring his remains back to NYC.
I believe there may be as many as four nieces still living. He had 12 nieces and nephews in all and as many as eight of them might have had children.
