Unfortunately for George, TV cameras existed at the time of his unfortunate performance. Can he never live it down despite repentance and publicly denouncing his prior attitude. We could use more Wallaces with the attitude he died with. By the way, during his last run for Governor, he received a majority of the votes of black citizens of his state. A forgiving electorate. The great Thomas Sowell is a much overlooked contributor to our society.
Next week, no doubt, the school chess club shall be banned.
he received a majority of the votes of black citizens of his state. A forgiving electorate.
Or an electorate highly responsive to party labels and its own opinion leader element.
Wallace had serial episodes in his life of crass and self-centered behavior well outside the norms of working politicians (see his treatment of his 1st wife). Not sure I’d take anything he said at face value.
I would not discount the value of party labels to account for some the black votes he received, but he also won a Democratic Primary. His treatment of his first wife was deplorable. My main point is that if an ANTIFA or BLM member changes and publicly renounces his prior behavior, i’ll takum. Of course, sincerity is a concern. That is where actions come in.
