The Answer Would be No

And if a war starts in the South China Sea with Biden as President…..God help us. There is no protection against China’s nuclear armed hypersonic missile and Russia’s nuclear armed, nuclear propelled Poseiden 6 torpedo.
LQC, it pains me even to think such thoughts as this, but: Might it be necessary, for the recovery of our tradition of military excellence, for us to get our fannies whipped good and hard by the Chicoms and/or the Russians? That presumes, of course, that it would be a regional conflict that we would survive as a nation. I have no idea, really, but the example of the addict who must hit rock bottom before he can have a chance to recover keeps coming to mind. We have become addicted, so to speak, to the notion of being the world’s superpower to the point where we no longer do any of the things necessary to maintain such status. I would never hope for such an event, because of the many lives that would be lost, but I fear it.
Frank: I know your point, we desperately need a wake-up call: but I don’t believe in virtuous defeat (nor do you, I think).
I believe the same extreme Left forces, who are great students of history, want to propel us to disastrous defeat, using the formula that destroyed Imperial Russia (1905 Russo-Japanese war, Straits of Tsushima; WW1 and the bloodletting of Imperial Russian military). Or that destroyed Austro-Hungaria.
Any war at the present time with our intentionally degraded military is strongly inclined to be a disaster.
“Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.”

@Frank, you are correct: “Might it be necessary, for the recovery of our tradition of military excellence, for us to get our fannies whipped good and hard by the Chicoms and/or the Russians?”
None of us want that. But in crying for mercy, mercy, mercy all the time, God just may give us mercy – mercy on the pre-born, mercy on the Afghanis whom we deserted, mercy on the Christian refugees we turned away as we welcomed drug lords from Latin America and Musloid terrorists from Somalia (even making one of them a congresswoman). We just may get mercy right at the end of the baseball bat of holiness and righteousness wielded by the Holy Spirit against the side of our collective head. A sunk Nimitz class nuclear powered aircraft carrier. A lost Seawolf nuclear powered submarine. God let Assyria do worse to the northern kingdom of Israel, and Babylon to the southern kingdom of Judah. Sometimes Dads have to give their sons an a$$whipping (Lord knows I need plenty when I was a kid). God is our Father and not above whipping us his children into line. He whipped before in the Second Jewish Temple. He’ll do it again if He feels it necessary. Why? because He scourges even son whom He loves (Hebrews 12:6).
