I’m interested in Scott Atlas new book about his four months as a consultant to the coronavirus task force. If I understand the gist of his book, Fauci and Birx make decisions without consulting comparative studies on the effectiveness of various measures, either because they cannot be bothered to read the studies or because they’ve forgotten how to have a critical engagement with them. He has said publicly that the members of this task force would hardly qualify as assistant professors at any medical institution at which he has worked. What he’s saying sounds outlandish, until you consider the evolution of policy.
The government was bound to make mistakes and medical practitioners were as well because the virus was novel threat. Still, they get data back, and it doesn’t seem to affect policy bar in quite spotty ways. We’ve known since April of 2020 that the virus is a threat to old people and middle-aged people with one of a menu of problems all of which are correlates of excess weight. We’ve known since about June of 2020 that the medium of transmission was indoor air. We’ve known since last spring that the lockdowns redistribute deaths between time periods and that’s about all. There have been an antheap of studies done demonstrating that masks have a modest effect at best on the frequency of transmission. We knew by last summer that the vaccines are not all that effective. They’re not sterilizing and breakthrough infections are common. The effect on policy of these understandings is quite retarded if it has an effect at all.
So, we have a pretty good idea that public health officialdom is chock-a-block with incompetents and / or liars.
And, of course, in the discourse of bourgeois street-level Democrats, all of this is presented in the same self-aggrandizing way every other event in society is presented. It’s getting more and more difficult to share a country with the asshole caucus.

By 2022 MSM propaganda will lump together the unboosted with the unvaccinated. Both will be referred to as “vaccine hesitant” when being nice and “deranged anti-vaxxers” when not.

I think the UK data suggests they’re doing masses of testing and getting pings on asymptomatic people. For all the cases they register, their death toll is agreeably low.
