PopeWatch: Owning the Cons

Would our Pope really be this petty?  You bet!:

Also — and this is a difficult point for loyal Catholics to grasp — Pope Francis’s own judgement, even on questions of faith and discipline, is far from infallible. Like his one-time hero, the Argentine populist dictator Juan Perón, he is happy to bend or blur principles in order to wrong-foot his opponents. And there is no one he dislikes more than American Catholic conservatives. When they begged him to reprove Biden for his extreme pro-abortion stance, they were guaranteeing that he would do nothing of the sort. Francis knew that, by allowing Biden to escape censure — and to receive communion in Rome on Friday night — he would pull the rug out from under orthodox US bishops who want their conference to tighten the rules on reception of the Eucharist. Rug-pulling is one of this pope’s hobbies.

Go here to read the rest.  The Pope hates conservatives and he hates Americans.  You do the math.

The fact is that so called “conservatives” are really but the last line of Western Civilization’s Judeo-Christian heritage and as such, become a serious obstacle to a secularist man of the cloth who sets himself against his own very source of authority.

The the Pope encouraged him to continue to receive communion is probably one of the few things Biden HASN’T lied about in his life.

If what Biden said wasn’t true, the Vatican would have a grave moral obligation to deny it in the strongest terms, given the scandal this has caused.

This the Scalifari interview deja vu all over again,

Thomas Meagher at his condemnation to death,” We all will go before a judge of infinitive justice and mercy; and many of this World’s judgments will be reversed.”
Or, something to that effect.

Let’s Go Brandon!

Not my president.

Not my Pope.

One could write a Greek tragedy based on these two evil, little men. But, neither has one iota of arête. They have the hubris in spades.

T, he’s your president until the end of his time in office or you stop being American. He’s your pope until the end of his time in office or you stop being Catholic. You have options to change the reality, but you can’t deny reality.

Pinky,
Say, for the sake of argument, that it was definitively proven that Biden got elected through fraud, but that nothing was done about it because of whatever reason (“what difference does it make at this point,” “there’s no precedent for removing a sitting president due to election fraud,” “it would be more disruptive to install a new president now,” etc.)

In that situation would you still say that Biden is your president?

As an American, my president is the sitting President of the United States. (I’m misusing the dependent clause there, but I hope it’s ok.)

P,

I love you man.

We no longer live in a free country.

In effect the Pope in the recent meeting, leaned over to Brandon and whispered, “Don’t be afraid. I’m not Catholic, either.”

The CCP-controlled junta [a cabal of its enemies] that Brandon fronts isn’t American, either.

Look at how bad things are. It can only have happened intentionally, no way this is accidental.

If that’s your position, then the statement “Biden is my president” carries no meaning beyond a statement of “Biden is effectively the man recognized as head of state.”

It implies nothing about Biden’s legitimacy, nor does it imply that we should have any loyalty to him.

Who cares how much personal loyalty I feel to a man? It’s the office. Both as Catholics and citizens of a democracy we should respect the rank. Maybe I’m being too harsh, but to me, “not my president / pope” sounds like “not my favorite president / pope”, which carries the same gravitas as “not my favorite Korean boy band”. Either it’s a mature turning away from the nation / faith, or it’s childish.

I’m so old I remember Nixon saying a president cannot commit a crime, or something like that.

I’ve been trying [with widely varying degrees of success] to be a Catholic for going on seven decades.

By not agreeing with Brandon’s unconstitutional, destructive [they reversed everything Trump accomplished] China-controlled junta put in power by the flu d’état and Papa Frank’s spreading secularist confusions and doubt-generating among the faithful, I hope to be TRUE to Christ’s Gospel [His Life, Death, and Resurrection – total obedience to His Father’s Will and zeal for the salvation of souls] and to the Constitutional/Bill of Rights in America.

Agreed. I am not a deep thinker.

When aliens conquer America we will be lectured about how it is disrespectful to the office to say “Kang is not my Supreme Martian Overlord.”

Pettiness is the teenager screaming “I wish you weren’t my parents!” Adulthood is saying you don’t always get what you want.

Nobody’s doing that here. Somebody’s indulging their penchant for caviling, and it isn’t Shaw, CPA.

What if you have serious doubts about what the office has turned into? A quasi-imperator increasingly accountable to no one is not how it is supposed to be. One who start a war on the other side of the globe or can order you fired from your private sector job with the stroke of a pen? Not seeing that in the Constitution or examples of Washington or Lincoln.

No emperors, thanks.

Unless it’s me, and I get to wear something more to the taste of Constantine I or Basil II. In which case, proceed.

“However, an occupant of an office who seems to have a great hatred, by his actions, for the institution he leads can expect little of that love and affection to cling to him.“

Don, I would assume you talking about both Biden and Bergoglio. The one silver lining of the dark cloud of the present pontificate will be the eradication of the toxic cult of personality that has surrounded the papacy in recent years.

I don’t know what CPA is beyond the world of accounting. Shaw’s whole thing for the past year has been, nearly word for word, I wish you weren’t my parents.
