Election Night With Baris

The signs look very good for the Republicans in Virginia.  Stay tuned.

Ride with the Rohirrim while we wait for results:

83% in from Loudon County.  Biden won the county by 25%.  McAuliffe is up by only 6%.

7:40 PM CT:  Calling it for Youngkin.  Ladies, do the honors:

Can we finally now bury the self-defeating meme that all elections are rigged?

1:00 AM update:

In Virginia Winsome Sears has been elected Lt Gov and Jason Miyares  has been elected Attorney General in the GOP sweep.  It looks like the GOP has made large gains in the General Assembly with at worst a 50-50 split in the Virginia House.  (The next Virginia Senate General Assembly elections are to be held in 2023.)

I thought the GOP would take Virginia, the shocker is New Jersey at this hour:

As of 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, with 80 percent of the vote counted, Ciattarelli held 1,082,101 votes to Murphy’s 1,062,790, according to the New York Times. Several counties across New Jersey were still in the process of reporting vote totals.

“Although it wasn’t my intention we have sent a message to the entire country,” Ciattarelli told a party of supporters late Tuesday night. “So listen, sometime real soon, we’re going to do this again…and we will declare a victory. Guys, hang in with me, thank you all so very, very much.”

Go here to read the rest.

It is impossible to view these election results as anything but a repudiation of the Biden Puppetmasters’ Administration.  This probably kills the attempt by this administration to get any more of its agenda through Congress and sets up the 2022 midterms as a fearful time for the Democrat Party.

(Oh, and remember how Fox called Arizona so quickly for Biden a year ago.  I believe they were the last network to call Virginia for Youngkin.)

Hard to be sure of anything until after 4AM.

Fairfax County has delayed early vote count (8 pm). I guess they’re going to wait and see how many are needed for McAuliffe.

I’ll send you a drink or game in one week if the results stand. 😉

And I will be happy to be proven wrong.

Countdown to Dems suddenly being in favor of vote audits begins? 😉

Saying that all elections are rigged is self-defeating, but so is dismissing or diminishing concerns about rigging. Any election could be rigged, even if not all are. We absolutely should not rest until we can be sure that elections are not rigged, even if we get some wins in during the meantime.

That being said, I still don’t think we can be certain of anything vote-wise until after 4AM, since the Dems have gotten pretty brazen (going above registered voter totals or adding votes to fully counted counties would not surprise me) and even after that the decision is definitely going to be challenged (with who knows what outcome with the state of our courts.)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to spread nothing but gloom. I give this a 85%+ chance that Youngkin takes the votes and defeats all challenges. But at the same time I think it’s foolish to act as though it is certain.

As I write this, 10:19 PM Central time, both Youngkin and Ciatarelli are over 51%. When I get up tomorrow morning I will not at all be surprised to see that both have lost. I can’t help it. I guess the trauma of one year ago is still with me. As Nate said, I will be happy to be proven wrong. But there was no way Biden could win, either.

Regarding the whole “elections are all rigged now, there’s no point voting” attitude I’ve seen cropping up; I’d like to point out that if folks take that to heart and forego voting altogether then they are 100% assured of losing.
Voting is the least anyone can do, and too many good people have fought and died to insure I have the privilege. I for one will not discard it so easily.

NOV 03 at 0048: FOX NEWS, NEWS MAX call Virginia for Youngkin for governor; Winsome Sears, Lt Gov.; Jason Miyares AG. (Thank God the awful current AG pro abort and liar Herring lost.)
At All Souls Mass before the St. Michael prayer the priest encouraged all to vote for the pro-life candidates. Afterward I was invited to have pho lunch with a priest I did know and 2 gals whom I had never met before. All had voted in Fairfax County. When Fr. voted officials wanted him masked. He complied but made it known he didn’t like it and voiced it might turn off some voters. (It is illegal to require masks). One of the gals said she did hybrid voting wherein you print out your own ballot. Having been a precint captain she was very suspicious
of the bar codes on her ballot wondering if her name and ssn was in the code. Later a young friend, a former Asst Voting Registrar, related how in Alexandria City she was told she had to wear a mask to vote. She told them she had seen an email from the Commission of Elections that morning not to insist on masks and stick to the rules for curbside voting. She did not wear a mask so was refused a ballot and told to go outside for curbside voting. She refused saying curbside was only for over 65 or incapitated both of which she was neither. She finally wore a mask to vote but noted to the official that it was illegal and she was emailing the Commissioner and was naming names. Which she did. BTW she had a sample Republican ballot in her hand. Hmmmm?
I guess that there will be a recount for irregularities aka as cheating.

All elections don’t have to be rigged for the last one to have been rigged, nor does it prevent future rigging.

If I was running that operation, I’d purposely allow this one (and probably even the next one) fall as the cards may. Just so I could pull it out again even bigger during the next Presidential election and run the board as people are relaxing.

There’s also that Virginia DID take action against “found” mail-in ballots– started the counting earlier.
