When it “suddenly falls upon them,” there isn’t time for one more Hail Mary or Glory Be. As great grandpa said; “Make hay while the sun still shines.”

Our Lord told us to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. We can and should be fully aware with eyes wide open as to all that is happening. As Philip noted, we must at the same time offer our prayers, with a sincere heart, for those who appear to us to be so badly misguided. They need it.
“Pray for your enemies” is particularly painful when they wear Roman collars and even a white zucchetto, but all the more necessary for that.
People who are rightfully disgusted by this should take heart that such disgust makes them better Catholics than either of the two political operators that convened the mutual admiration society on Friday.
