I for one am glad the Australians abandoned the French fleecing they were getting. Yes, Donald, you’re right, Biden is asleep at the wheel and he and Boris Johnson in the UK could have handled this better by offering the French a piece of the nuclear submarine pie instead of cutting them out. But France was going to get $60 billion US or $90 billion Australian dollars for air independent subs little better than the worhless Collins class diesel electrics they have now. Australia getting 8 US Virgina class guided missile attack nuke or 8 UK Austute class attack nukes for the same money is a much better deal. And it could have been done withotu throwing the French under the bus.
However, the French weren’t so pi$$ed off that they rescinded a visit by their nuke Amethyste attack sub in Norfolk, VA just last month. We’re still doing exercises with the French. They just want the $$$$. If Biden and Boris Johnson throw them a bone, they’ll be able to save face. Sadly, Biden doesn’t have the necessary wits to treat President Emmanuel Macron with soem respect and decency.
