When He is Right

I have not been the biggest fan of Mel Gibson on this blog, to put it mildly, but when he is right, he is right.  Sinners can, and must, stand up for the Faith.

Orthodox priests under the current pontificate are treated like plague rats. Go here to the website for Coalition for Canceled Priests.

With Mel and many other sinners including myself, C. S. Lewis’ words strike home; “God writes straight with crooked lines.”

We are practicing Catholics.

What Mel accompanied with the Passion of the Christ movie was a mission from God. Imo.
St. Catharine Emrick’s visions put into film and widely distributed…That is the power of God working in the weakest of men..Mel with his struggle with the drink and everything in that wake.

This clip of Mel’s support for the march in Chicago is from the heart.
Thank you for sharing it.

A beautiful line form Blessed Fr. Solanas Casey simply describes Sanctifing Grace v Vainglory;

“God condescends to use our powers if we don’t spoil His plans with ours.”

Mel Gibson did not get in God’s way in bringing St. Catherine’s visions to an audience that might never have known her story. A story that is in effect the Greatest Story ever told.
Our redemption and the bloody cost of it. Love indeed wins.

Praise be God in his Angels and in his Saints.

That “fruits of the tree” piece is really important to me because I don’t understand how bishops who preside over failed dioceses can have as much pull as they do. Italy, Germany, France… Diocese after diocese with insufficient income to sustain even a fraction of their churches, insufficient numbers of seminarians to justify having even one seminary, convents shuttered everywhere, jokes among the laity that “the only time X go to church is to be baptized, married, or buried.” This is not to say that here in North America, we’re doing great. We’re not but going to Mass on Sunday in Marseilles or Napoli is like going to a lecture in an empty museum.

In any healthy organization, managers are held to account for what is under their keeping. Why aren’t bishops? Why do we have to listen to someone prattle on about what the Church needs or should do globally when they’ve led their diocese into ruin for twenty years?

If the fruits of the tree are how we should know a man of God, Mel is right in pointing out that many of our bishops must not be men of God.

Modernism, an ancient but present heresy, infecting the Church from the See of Peter to the Parish. Success for Christ is not a consideration if you hold the preferred theology of the day.

Lift high the Cross.

The Mother of God will destroy all heresies however we must work together to form her heel which in turn will crush Modernism, Relativism and false mercy.

The latter is being used to pave the way for ambiguous utterances from the Holy See. Twisting teachings in the name of pastorial discretion.

We must Lift High the Holy Cross and march forward.
