As I have repeatedly said, we now know what it was like to be a sane person looking aghast at the Salem Witch Trials. Get people whipped up with fear and hysteria, and there is little they will not do to the targets of their ire. Too many people are busily repeating the ghastly errors of times past, which so many people have forgotten or never learned. Fear and ignorance are always a deadly combination.
