In my experience, the bourgeois street-level Democrats are as a rule comprehensively unwilling to admit that their cultural nexus has ever been wrong about anything. The exceptions are cranky Bernie Bros like my cousin in Alliance, Ohio or are reading Glenn Greenwald or Bari Weiss or Jonathan Turley in the venues in which they can publish. This psychological and cultural force is going to be manifest at elite levels as well as the popular level and that’s going to generate intense resistance in the Administration and in the media and in Congress to acknowledging that Biden is non compos mentis. This may drag on a great deal longer than we can imagine right now.

The president’s appointments secretary reports to the chief of staff, as does every single person responsible for moving his person around. The whole thing is such a mess that it suggests no one familiar with logistics and military operations is responsible for the foundational plan. The persons at the top who would fit that description would be Blinken and Sullivan. As for Biden, he’s getting lost trying to read his cue cards, so, no, I wouldn’t attribute agency to him.

Would not responsibility fall on those around him to get the blame? No, I am not convinced that Biden’s hands are clean of the failure of this Afghan operation and that it was not his decision. This operation was done in exactly the way someone with Biden”s mental shortcomings would have handled it.
He’s the President. Buck stops with him. If someone else is pulling the strings then that there shows you his own people have no trust in his ability and has no control over his role- that is his fault. He has complete accountability because he is the top dog. Goes hand in hand with the job. If he can’t handle the job, he needs to step aside.

Thats the point Ezabelle. If he is not capable of recognizing he can’t handle it and needs to step down then why would he do it on his own volition? He wouldn’t. If he really plays fast and loose with reality then it is the puppet makers who are responsible. I still think he has a big hand in making the decisions. If you had, you’d know that there is nothing abnormal about being angry with someone not making sound decisions under these circumstances. The decision in question was seeking office and holding it when he cannot remember what he had for breakfast. The condition he’s in has meant the vacuum is filled with shadowy and sketchy characters, who exploit his carcass rather than bring him back to reality.

Jill Biden is no Edith Wilson but she can, and probably has, transmitted the instructions for the president given to her by whoever does run things. Eventually it will out but in the meantime we almost certainly will have to endure more foppish amateurism.
