I taught at a Catholic girls high school for 24 years and met Muslim students from Pakistan, Iran, the Middle East and Egypt. The parents and girls were always extremely grateful for the opportunities. An immigrant family from Iran who owned a restaurant thanked the faculty with a lunch every year their daughter attended.
We did not allow the hijab, but a neighboring girls school did, and parents chose one or the other in part for each school’s reasons. One mom of Pakistani background who wore the covering chose us because we did not allow it.
