In a just world Milley and a lot of our other Generals would be prosecuted for their criminal incompetence regarding Afghanistan. Where there is no penalty for military ineptitude you will have more of it. As for the politicians and their role in this debacle, as usual GK Chesterton has the truth of it:
“It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged”.
Our dead from Afghanistan remain dead. Our 2.4 trillion remains squandered.  The architects of this disgrace console themselves with ill-gotten gains from arms companies, sitting on corporate boards, being lobbyists, etc. Our worthless political class will do nothing about any of this. The only man who got it right was Trump who condemned Forever Wars and realized that for the useless Generals and their political sponsors, that was a feature and not a bug.
