Glenn Reynolds’ blog celebrates its twentieth anniversary today. I became a daily reader soon thereafter. I have found Instapundit to be one of the more effective platforms to spread conservatism. Long may Glenn Reynolds continue to blog! Go here to read the comments on his post noting the 20th anniversary.
Mac,
You and Glenn R. are my daily go-to guys.
Welcome to the Idiocracy.
America has the worst oligarchs [imbeciles and senile clowns completely sold out to China] in the History of the Planet.
In reality, I detect some strange things going on at Instapundit. They appear to be hawking some very weird ideas. They are very anti cop, for example, constantly complaining that cops should be sued all the time when they make a mistake. Their nutty pretense that Elon Musk is some super being going to start a new era of space travel is factually wrong, and childishly fanboyish. It’s like they get paid by Musk or something, it’s just totally weird. The site now is home to commenters who hate the US government, no matter what. The old Instapundit was essential and fun – this new one has sort of become trapped in its own fake narrative creation, much like a conservative version of the Daily Kos. Too weird for me now.
???
Insty has several people who put up stories, with their names quite openly listed on what they post– they’ve got a range of views, several of which I find obnoxious, which is the point. It’s not carefully filtered and curated for The One Holy And True Worldview, it’s news with perspective from a range of people, many of whom have blind spots the size of Vesuvius, and the comments don’t ban bad think. They clear out spam, and other than that you have to actually deal with those who disagree with you.
More importantly, it’s normal to see people who loudly, and effectively, disagree with whoever posted something. There are some hilariously stupid guys who complain about Sarah’s book posts, for example– either the cover is “ugly,” or it has girl cooties, or something similarly brainless. (That’s where you should go to see who’s being paid to post stuff.)
Which is why going to Insty’s comment section to watch guys who are from places that ban ‘badthink’ get kicked from wall to wall and back again is a form of entertainment.
The Musk thing… they accurately report what is actually happening. With evidence, video, commentary by professionals who make their living in something besides PR, and everything.
Guess we should kick that to the curb and go hope NASA does enough Muslim Outreach to get us to space because gosh it’s just too much praise of the Elon….
