God Bless America and God Help Morons

 

Strong language advisory.  A great video that strikes back against the Left’s attempt to bash America by comparing her to some impossible Utopia.  America was never meant to be Utopia but rather a place where freedom and liberty would be safeguarded.  The Founding Fathers set goals to guide us along the way.  Lincoln nailed it:

“We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” This was their majestic interpretation of the economy of the Universe. This was their lofty, and wise, and noble understanding of the justice of the Creator to His creatures. [Applause.] Yes, gentlemen, to all His creatures, to the whole great family of man. I have been to other places in the world. I was in Russia just a few years after the Wall came down.

America is the closest thing we’ll ever have to utopia on this side of the veil and I thank God every day for her.

It’s good to be a partisan of what’s your’s. It’s not good to entertain social fantasies. There are lots of places in this world with a high quality of life.

It’s good to try to be fair, but if you’re just going to be contrary without either supporting the claim or even responding to the specific thing someone said, you’re just trying to create conflict.

Nate didn’t say “only America has a high quality of life.”

He said we are as close to utopia as we’re going to get.

Yes, but not our commitment to freedom as the Europeans have been demonstrating again and again over the past decade, although I must admit that too many Americans, that’s your cue Democrats, seem to be willing to give up the freedom of their political adversaries.

Gottfried Dietze offered the view that the closest approximation of the Whig idea was Switzerland.

The following is a ranking crafted by the World Bank. These indexes are black boxes, of course. Just offering one assessment of the capacity of the person to exercise his freedom of contract. It was Dietze’s opinion that property rights and freedom of contract with the most consequential of rights and the rights whose recognition was the most antique.

This isn’t a measure of liberty, but it does incorporate the freedom to conduct business without off-the-books exactions from public employees.

I might note that even before the most recent lunacy, the chances of you being murdered in this country exceeded that of the typical West European country by a factor of four. I don’t think in European cities you really see replicas of American slums.

There are other features one could discuss. You’re loyal to what’s yours, but what’s your’s isn’t the epitome of collective existence. When you’re loyal to what’s yours, that doesn’t concern you.

Are there some of those indexes that would address cultural regions in the US?
I am thinking of some of the jailer treatment if political prisonoets in DC and wondering what Difference there would be among the jailers in attitudes to prisoner rights and personal dignity/freedom in say any so -called red region

Don’t forget how the UK got caught recording homicides as hospital deaths because that’s where the murder victim was declared dead. (It’s recorded by the police, and if your crime situation gets worse, you look bad.)
The US is noted for reporting as probable homicides cases where we don’t even have a body, and furthermore record “homicide” including the justifiable homicides; some places report murder rate based on the death being declared deliberate or even only those that are solved and they ran out of appeals.

That’s before the question of how many of the countries being compared to have large, poorly secured borders with failed nations run by multiple, warring gangs who routinely demonstrate their terror-powers by dismembering those who have offended them and leaving the chunks to be found.

States that have populations that are as white as most European countries have crime statistics to match theirs.

New Hampshire has homicide rates like Western Europe’s. Notable about New Hampshire is that 85% of the population is exurban, small town, and rural. There are some European countries whose population is dispersed to a surprising degree (Albania is one, Slovakia another), but not so dispersed that the most populous urban settlement has just 120,000 people in it.

I should point something else out, which is that jurisdictions in the United States which are assiduous about law enforcement (e.g. New York City under Giuliani and Bloomberg) were able to suppress crime to such a degree that the neighborhood with the worst homicide rate had one of 15 per 100.000 and a number of slum sections had homicide rates in the range of 8-9 per 100,000. If anyone could be bothered, it’s quite realistic to force the homicide rate down to about 3.5 per 100,000 in this country and the frequency of robbery down to about 70 per 100,000 (about what it was in 1960). But no one can be bothered outside of a few locales.

The left blames inanimate objects – guns – not evil persons’ intents.

I’m so old. I remember when Robert Wagner was NYC Mayor.

Under Mayor Dinkins [first African-American NYC Mayor], over 2,000 NYC [mostly minorities] residents were murdered each year. After racists Giuliani, Bloomberg, Kelly, Bratton, et al emplaced racist policing, [what?] 20,000 minority persons didn’t get murdered over their multi-year racist terms in office.

It’s all a hoax.

White America [all of it good money after bad] has done more for black Americans than any other similar group and situation in World History.

America is the least racist nation in the history of the planet.

Re: relatively low murder rates in Europe: it’s the hugely divergent demographics.
