Amazing how many Leftists these days act as if the right to counsel isn’t right there in the Sixth Amendment and in all state constitutions. It is the boast, in too many cases a hollow one, of my profession to represent clients no matter the public clamor against them. Glenn Greenwald is that rarity these days, an honest, and consistent, man of the Left.
Well they’re pretty shocked when police do their jobs too.
I’m beginning to suspect the Left just has issues with “jobs” in general.
Separation of powers, due process, and the rule of law are uncongenial to the totalitarian character of modern leftism.
I seem to recall that young associates in BigLaw firms were knocking each other over to represent the Guantanamo crew. I place that side-by-side with what I hear of Trump having trouble recruiting legal talent and GoFundMe shutting down the account set up for Kyle Rittenhouse. (I seem to recall one of the prominent BigLaw attorneys defending traditional marriage faced threats from his firm for taking such cases and another proved to be a trojan horse who actually threw the case out in California). Our problem is cultural, and that is that people occupying gatekeeper positions in our society are unworthy of them and sociologically gangrenous.
Note, many of the J6 defendants are in jail or under house arrest or have been for months for disorderly conduct and dubious charges of trespassing. That’s the judges we have in DC. How Greenwald differs from other leftoids is that he has fixed standards. NPR just has improvisations which it deploys to manufacture excuses for abusive behavior inflicted on the enemy. That’s what gets you about the modal type of liberal these days: they’re on the side of injustice EVERY SINGLE TIME.
I’ve observed that to Leftist’s … “the ends justify the means”… and that philosophy is the single cause of the majority of evil on this earth.
