A group of men at our parish (St. Walter in Roselle, IL) were asked to help facilitate a weekly on-line series on the recent Apostolic Letter by Pope Francis, “Patris Corde” (With a Father’s Heart). It was my turn this week.
My reflection is on the section about “Obedience” and begins at 1min, 36s with an opening prayer and goes to about the 9th minute; the rest is me reading the prayers for the evening…beautiful prayers by the way.
Please Note: I was not comfortable presenting to a camera with no opportunity for a “dress rehearsal”, so bear that in mind.
Enjoy!
I am impressed. Maybe you might want to write some homilies for more than a few priests, who too often mumble feel-good platitudes and spiritual cliché’s without digging deeper into their meanings as you did. If a homily or “spiritual talk” doesn’t leave the listener pondering what was said as they leave, then it probably failed. I particularly like your point that God might have allowed disobedient children so that we might know how He feels when we do it to Him.
Thanks Don.
Having 3 children has definitely shown me that I need to be more obedient to our Father in heaven. God permits evil to bring out the greater good.
Well done.
No dress rehearsal?
Well the spirits of Archbishop Fulton Sheen and patron saint of media St. Kolbe most definitely are with you Ben. Great job.
Obedience is key…a key that unlocks the inner chamber of Gods mercy and love.
Peace.
Thanks Philip!
