PopeWatch: Sigh. Send him through.
Pope Francis: Gringo, what do you know about Jordan Peterson?
PopeWatch: He is a professor of psychology who set out to be a corporate lawyer before coming to his senses.
Pope Francis: I have been told he worships Lobsters and wears a skull mask.
PopeWatch: I hope you didn’t pay for that information Holiness.
Pope Francis: It did sound loco to me.
PopeWatch: Loco would be an apt term Holiness.
Pope Francis: What do you think of him?
PopeWatch: That he normally speaks common sense in a manner that attracts large audiences.
Pope Francis: Powerful people view him as a threat, or so I have been told.
PopeWatch: That surprises me not at all Holiness, in that common sense is contra the way the world is currently operating.
Pope Francis: Has he said anything about me?
PopeWatch: Not so far as I know, but I of course have not kept track of every word he says or writes.
Pope Francis: Would he talk to me?
PopeWatch: I don’t see why not Holiness, and I would love to have the popcorn concession rights for that!
Pope Francis: Pope laughs. Gringo I like you, even though you are a Self-Absorbed Promethean Neo-Pelagian.
And with that the phone conversation ended and PopeWatch uttered a silent prayer that the great Francis-Peterson debate would take place.
Well done, as always! Don, you should really consider compiling all of your Pope Watch posts into book form…you could probably sell it and defer some of the costs of publishing this blog. 😁 Apologies if this idea has already been floated.

Jordan Peterson seems like he has nailed a lot of what’s wrong with the society today. Activism is a result of our lack of understanding of love. Love has been reduced to a patronising gesture of mush as a response to this misguided sense of guilt. But real love is speaking the difficult truth and being patient enough for someone to understand that truth in order for them to help themselves- to be self-critical and have accountability for ones decisions in life. A person will only have true peace once they understand and live this. All whilst trusting in Gods, Grace, Mercy and Love. Our Faith needs to take the lead and define love and live it.

A dear friend of mine was continually exasperated with his wife over her morbid fear of medications. She took it too far, but she had a point. Ivan Ilich was half right. The medical profession is an energetic source of iatrogenic illness.
