I often wonder what might be today, had MacArthur (yes, a pompous general, but….) had won the issue with Truman and gone after “China” in the Korean “conflict”. (It’s not a war until the politicians say so)
Was MacArthur the last US general that saw his duty as fighting a war rather than feeding young GIs, marines and sailors into a meat grinder run by politicians and the six o’clock news?
N.B. After Truman’s Constitutional firing, the US did not win another war in the 20th century.
