Jungle Survival

 

The things you find on the internet.  A film on jungle survival produced in 1944 by the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Army Air Forces.  In the Pacific planes were routinely shot down, or forced down due to equipment malfunction, in jungles.  Actor Van Heflin has the starring role as Harrison.  Van Heflin also served as a combat cameraman with the Ninth Air Force in Europe.  In the film Van Heflin is a sad sack who does everything wrong and is saved only by a stroke of sheer dumb luck.  A negative example can be as useful as a positive example.  Van Heflin made a career of playing fairly ordinary men under stress, this training film melds into this facet of his body of work.
