MAINZ, Germany, February 24, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – A German bishop has suggested that the Church disrespects Catholics with homosexual inclinations by asking them to live chastely.
“As to the demand for chastity: What does it mean from the perspective of people who experience homosexual inclinations? I think that few of them would consider this demand as tactful and respectful, because — as the Catechism also knows — this inclination is not self-selected,” wrote Bishop Peter Kohlgraf of Mainz in a Feb. 3 column for his diocesan newspaper.
While it is true that the Catechism of the Catholic Church calls those with same-sex attraction to “chastity,” it is also true that the Church teaches that “all the baptized are called to chastity,” whether single or married, lay-faithful or consecrated. Chastity is defined by the Catechism as a moral virtue that consists in the “successful integration of sexuality within the person and thus the inner unity of man in his bodily and spiritual being.”
Bishop Kohlgraf in his column wrote that the Catholic Church needs to recognize that homosexuality occurs in the “animal world” and should not be thought of as a “mistake” in God’s order of creation.
“Are people who experience homosexual inclinations badly made? Has God made a mistake in his order of creation? Obviously, homosexuality occurs in creation. Quite a few people who experience homosexual inclinations belong to the Church and are really pious in the best sense of the word. I have a hard time with the idea of a mistake in the order of creation,” he said.
Go here to read the rest. Aside from the heresy, one is struck by the banal idiocy. Cannibalism is rife in the animal world. Does that mean we should normalize it? Incest occurs throughout the animal world. Is that an argument to go forth and do likewise? Catholicism used to be noted for rigor of thought and argument, now it is noted for feelings, nothing more than feelings, with apologies to Morris Albert. That something occurs in the natural world tells us bupkis about the morality of it when applied to humans. The Bishop is an idiot or he thinks the rest of us are.
So now we’re getting our moral teachings by observing the animal world? So now I can behave like a bull elk and own a herd of willing cow elk to do with as I please? Maybe Jeff Dahmer thought he morally was equivalent to a hungry lion?

You buried the lede on this one. In that piece, the bishop goes on to approve of a book that includes same-sex liturgical blessings.
The Bishop has forgotten Original Sin, which we all inherit from Adam and Eve. He needs to read the second Creation story in Genesis. God created the animals and Adam named them. None were a suitable helper. Only Eve was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. Only Eve, like Adam, was made in God’s image and likeness. The one flesh union is only between male and female. By way of confirmation, Christ pointed this out in Matthew 19. The whole story was a process of discovery and education, where God was instructing Adam as to his place in the created order, which was not that of a purely animal existence. None of the animals were made in God’s image and likeness. Ever since the fall we have all been born in a flawed condition with a darkened will and intellect. Baptism only remits the penalty of Original Sin.
