Canceling is a crime against humanity. We must wait to see if our general public cares. This is perhaps the most important open issue about America and its future.

Nothing has changed since King Zedekiah permitted Shephati′ah the son of Mattan, Gedali′ah the son of Pashhur, Jucal the son of Shelemi′ah, and Pashhur the son of Malchi′ah to cancel the prophet Jeremiah by casting him into a cistern. Truth is never well receive by those in power, either 2600 years ago or today.

Did you catch this? Robert Gagnon is an evangelical moral theologian. He is 62 years old, is about 5’7″ tall, weighs about 120# soaking wet, and favors oversized bow ties. His entire public presence consists of academic articles, academic monographs, academic lectures, and general interest pieces derived from them. This is the man ‘inciting violence’ in Mark Zuckerberg’s looking-glass world.

Even the freedom to keep your mouth shut can go away, just ask St. Thomas More.

Hope he doesn’t go in front of a Judge Sullivan. I’m getting the impression the entire Department of Justice needs to be shut down.

You mean we still have a Department of Justice? Go figure…

The crazy talk on the fringe right just gets crazier. Most Americans recognize that inciting violence is not protected speech. And what exactly is this obsession with “cancel” and “canceling?” Nobody is canceling history. Removing statues of oppressors, traitors and tyrants does not mean we forget they existed. It means we do not give them a place of honor in the public sphere. Just how many statues of Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin (to name a few figures of bygone tyrannies) remain standing in places of honor these days? And why should they?

The crazy talk

We often don’t see ourselves as others do, John.

on the fringe right

That would be 1/2 the country. You need to get out more.
just gets crazier.

Most Americans recognize that inciting violence is not protected speech.

‘Incitement’ is a legal term of art. With which you are not familiar. While we’re at it, Trump did not incite violence in the vernacular sense either.

And what exactly is this obsession with “cancel” and “canceling?”

It’s drawn from observing the conduct of educational administrators, tech platforms and the media. Which you assiduously refuse to notice.

Nobody is canceling history. Removing statues of oppressors, traitors and tyrants does not mean we forget they existed. It means we do not give them a place of honor in the public sphere.

The terms ‘oppressor’, ‘traitor’, and ‘tyrant’ do not mean what you fancy they mean.

The sorosphere isn’t sending us their best.
