Thought For the Day
- Donald R. McClarey
Donald R. McClarey
Cradle Catholic. Active in the pro-life movement since 1973. Father of three, one in Heaven, and happily married for 43 years. Small town lawyer and amateur historian. Former president of the board of directors of the local crisis pregnancy center for a decade.
Quite a chilling thought for the day, I would say.
Thought Police running rampant in those institutions of higher indoctrination. It’s absurd of course..his class on propaganda generating such a response as to criticize and PUNISH the professor.
If anything, the love of BB and all of it’s fascist baggage, seems to be deeply ingrained into the soulless dupes who eat such garbage.
It’s true..you are what you eat.
It’s interesting to see them eat their own kind.

Miller’s been around for decades, and is no stranger to making asinine utterances (though I’ve been told he can be screamingly funny in person as well as in print). He and I once lived in the same neighborhood and we’d cross paths when he was out pushing his kid in a pram or doing errands, though we only conversed once. The gross irony is that he’s being harassed not for some nonsense statement, but for asking his students to do something perfectly reasonable. Academe is in a decadent period and no one knows where the bottom is.
I’d be pleased if Dr. Miller’s lawyer carved $100,000 plus costs right out of the middle of the dean and / or hr official harassing him, but these people are seldom held personally responsible.
Welcome to the post-reality world.
Orwell, “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.” “In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
I suspect there may be more to this than just one snowflake student’s whiny tweets. Prof. Miller has written extensively on his website about the folly of masking to stop a virus. At least one host has deplatformed him for his sins. If you go to his site, markcrispinmiller.com, you can still find his multi-part series on “Masking Ourselves to Death”, which is loaded with links to sources containing actual scientifically-established facts. Unusual for a leftist these days, and make no mistake, he is a confirmed leftist. But in this instance, at least, he has displayed the admirable desire to argue a contentious issue based on facts rather than emotions.
Our Constitution was specifically designed to protect speech not approved by the majority. This includes “hate” speech and every expression you find personally repulsive or offensive. Otherwise the whole idea of “freedom of speech “ becomes an unfunny joke. Banning opinions with which you disagree is a major step towards despotism.
NYU is not a public agency. That having been said, private higher education shouldn’t beclown itself by being enablers of aggressive juveniles. Miller is having them address an issue which has arguments on both sides. Unless he’s been abusive to students in class or during office hours, there’s no employee performance issue.
