Let Them Eat Cake

News that I missed, courtesy of The Babylon Bee:

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nancy Pelosi has announced that every $600 stimulus check will come with a free slice of cake for Americans to eat.

She made the announcement in a speech yesterday after the stimulus bill was criticized for not doing enough for the middle class. The amendment to the $900 billion stimulus bill, coupled with the reasonable $2.3 trillion spending bill for the federal government, means that in addition to getting $600 created out of thin air, each American will get a slice of chocolate cake.

“Americans have been suffering, so we need to let them eat cake,” she said in front of Congress yesterday. “We closed down their businesses for the past nine months, so it’s the least we can do. Really. I do mean that. The least.”

Go here to read the rest.  This wretched pork Covid relief bill demonstrates why so many politicians in both parties rejoiced in the stolen election.  With Trump gone they could return to the status quo ante where they could once again unashamedly served special interests and the American people could pound sand.  Serving his corporate masters is what Biden’s political career has been all about.  That is why his Senate nickname was the Senator From MBNA.  As I have often said, Trump’s historical function is to reveal to the American people just how rotten so many of their institutions have become.  On his way out the door he performs this function again by revealing just how eaten away with corruption a Congress would have to be to pass this 5000 page monstrosity.

And the bill was written by the special interest lawyers who are among the few who will read it.

Are the Senate Republicans acting like people who expect to be in the majority in the next Congress?

More importantly, perhaps, are the Senate Republicans acting like people who care whether they’re in the majority or not in the next Congress?

To be honest I’m surprised they even agreed to give 600 bucks.

I was expecting maybe 20. But the same total cost.

You get the government you deserve – good and hard.

In a year [of China virus politicking and lockdowns] when tens of millions of Americans lost their livelihoods and hundreds of thousands of businesses went broke, Congress could not spit out a clean China virus relief bill.

Now, the lying liars are couching Trump’s veto threat as holding back the vitally needed relief $600 (crumbs) with no mention of how Pelosi et al held up for vitally-needed relief until after the rigged/stolen election.

Amen to all the comments above. And I shudder to think what they will do once Trump is gone from the White House.
