Living in the Past

An interesting way to go through life, living in the past in the present.  I would probably choose to live in the 1860s with modern conveniences.  (As my Seventh Grade homeroom teacher opined one day:  What are you going to be when you grow up McClarey?  A Civil War general?  You have the weight for it!)  I just hope that all of us won’t soon be living in a vast live action recreation  of the Civil War era!)

“What are you going to be when you grow up McClarey? A Civil War general?” Up to that point he was being very complementary!

Nice, although I personally prefer to deal with reality squarely.
I’ll assume no WiFi in the house.

Don (and I) may get our wish. But it would be living in a post-Civil War world after many casualties. We are now in the gathering storm.

The husband’s beard kind of kills the effect. Also, the understanding in and amongst my parents’ contemporaries as to what was apposite self-expression was rather more subtle and stylized than the ethic she offers at the beginning.
