Have a gander at the biographies of members of the Minneapolis City Council. There were, last I checked, a dozen councillors with 1 vacancy.

= About three have children.
=A similar number actually have a history in a profession, trade, or business. (For example, one was, at an earlier time in her life, a town planner). The rest of them have been NGO functionaries and political staff throughout their adult life.
= Note, the Mayor has been much more circumspect about this nonsense than the council majority. (1) He has day-to-day administrative responsibilities; (2) he practiced law before going into politics; (3) he’s recently received a gift most of the council will never have: a child. (He is nearly 40 years old).
=Note that the Mayor’s predecessor, who had such tangled relations with the police force, has spent her entire adult life as an NGO functionary or political office-holder. She’s been married at least twice. The current and previous husband have children, but she’s not the mother of any of the children and has never had any responsibility for them.
= Note also that two of the twelve members of the Minneapolis City council are extreme sexual deviants. (I cannot recall off-hand whether they’re women pretending to be men or men pretending to be women).

This is the sort of person who wants to sit on a core city municipal council in our time, and the feckless voters just pretend everything is Georgia peachy keen. The people who elect these cretins are the people who thought an empty suit like Barack Obama (a man notable only for garrulity, vanity, and spite) should sit in the President’s chair.
