Always remember that Leftist Catholics tend to be Leftists first and Catholics fifth.
Kicking a man when he is ill. I have represented felons with better moral sense than that. Also, if they did attempt to attack someone they did not wrap it in nauseating Uriah Heep fake piety.
Bless her heart.
Yes, pray for Msgr. Pope, but reject Dawn Eden Goldstein’s sanctimony.
Check out how right Msgr. Pope about the need to Man Up:
Well that wins the passive/aggressive tweet of the month award, with an honorable mention in the schadenfreude category.
Ernst Schreiber, I echo your “bless her heart”, with the understanding that I mean it in the Southern sense.
This woman’s claim to be praying for the Monsignor’s healing rings about as true as Pelosi’s claim to pray often for President Trump.
That’s AOC without her mask
Since when does Dawn Eden qualify as a ‘leftist Catholic’? Haven’t heard much from her in recent years, but in her blogging days she was an advocate of orthodoxy.
Since Francis. Her twitter feed is instructive.
That’s a shame. When I first came into the Church she was one I not only followed but conversed with a couple times. She struck me as thoughtful and open, more than even I was comfortable with. She once interviewed with an old classmate of mine Russ Moore. I joked and said he was probably a bit uncomfortable with her Catholicism (having missed Russ’s swing away from where he was when we were in seminary together). She rebuked me saying we need to be open even when we disagree, and that Russ was charitable and respectful – the important things to consider. Now look at how she conducts herself.
What is it with Catholics who, as they swing to the left, become more and more of what they themselves once condemned?
She is stressed over COVID but she should just shut up. After reading her tweets, her comments sound like character assassination. She wants him removed is my guess. Because Satan hates Christ, priests are Satan’s favorite target. A deacon said it starts in the seminary and continues through their careers.
The rural mission’s services are in an old cinderblock activities building. The critics go to the bishop first before talking/calling the priest: tabernacle in the wrong place, not enough virus precautions, too many precautions; he ‘s facing ad oriented now “he’s turning his back on us”; we’re asked to pray for President Trump and all elected officials “he’s political”, “he’s far right”, “he takes too many vacations”(Canon law provides for 4 weeks of vacation and a mandatory annual retreat; most times a visiting priest covers Masses); “this church is too ugly, she will not receive her 1st Communion in this ugly building (days before the event).,etc., etc. My favorite, “He doesn’t pronounce Latin correctly.”
There’s a group of us that pray for our priest daily and we let him know it.
The point is Black Lies Matter and so black, racial racketeers/icons (e.g., George Floyd, John Lewis) get huge funerals and your Mother doesn’t.
And, Black Lies Matter and so can run through Democrat hell holes thousands of arsonists, looters, vandals and your Church can’t have full attendance. They allowed casinos to open and . . .
Did you ever hear of a St. Dawn?
Did you ever here of a St. Eden?
All the Goldsteins I ever knew were Jews.
Ms. Gioldstein doesn’t hold a monopoly on the absence of Charity schtick (Yiddish).
We really didn’t need a Catholic Dolores Umbridge, but apparently Dawn insisted.
She is pitch perfect in the role.
She entered the Church about 20 years ago. She has over the years generally written under the pen name ‘Dawn Eden’. She was a music journalist for some time (about 1990-200?) before she took up writing about the faith, and was a prolific blogger for a number of years (while holding a day job at the New York Post, IIRC. She quit blogging when she took a job with some church agency. Cannot remember precisely when, but the date 2007 sticks in my memory. (I think the Post may have canned her in response to some pseudo-controversy). Dom Bettinelli also fell silent around that time (though not completely) when he was hired by the Archdiocese of Boston (as an iT tech, IIRC; he’d previously been employed by Ignatius Press but been downsized).
Mr. Shaw:
Dawn’s unpleasantness has nothing to do with her Jewish roots and everything to do with her politics.
Apply the brakes before you go over the cliff.
Dawn used to be a lively, interesting writer. I read her compulsively.
But the Francis era has turned her into a scold. An increasingly mean-spirited one, alas.
I see she relocated to DC and is back blogging, It’s not clear where she’s working now.
She seems to be quite fixated on this man and his medical problems. She tweeted and retweeted about them umpteen times.
The number of the tweets attracted my attention. It does seem to be an obsession.
double-take Darn, I use to like her, some 15-ish years ago. Sad to see her go all nasty neighbor lady.
Wonder what excuse would get used to blame my husband’s co-worker that caught the kung flu– they not only have masks, they have N-95s. Would it be walking in view of someone who was not masked, thus cursing him?
It’s been years since I attended one of his Masses or lectures. (He was Father Pope back then.) He was always one of the good ones, both solidly theological and exuberant. I’ll keep him in my prayers.
Odd: streams about Monsignor Pope, not a whisper about the illegally- packed funeral of Congressman Lewis.
But only a cynic would suggest she’s using coronavirus safety as a convenient stick to beat someone she dislikes.
