Wait… They are going to be named after a slave owner who had 317 slaves? And a traitorous, rebellion leader too?
They should change it to “Washington Bureaucrats”
Well originally the team was the Washington Senators. Home games were in Griffith Park.
The Senate in those days was held in higher esteem.
Weren’t the Senators a baseball team?
I favor the Washington Weasels. For the alliteration.
They should change their colors to black and white, like those generic packages from the 1970’s. They should have “TEAM” written across their jerseys, their cheerleaders should be replaced with mannequins, and they should play middle C before every play, and the fans should say “oh” after every touchdown.
Yup, they were baseball. Too bad the Nationals, Capitols and Diplomats names are already taken. The Bullets became the Wizards. Although Bullets is not PC, it would be apropos for a team in today’s District of Columbia
