.- The president of Greece called Pope Francis Monday urging the pope to advocate for the preservation of the status quo regarding Hagia Sophia, which is due to be reverted to a mosque this week.
In a phone call July 20, Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou told the pope that Turkey’s decision “deeply hurts those who consider this top symbol of Christianity to belong to humanity and the world’s cultural heritage,” according to a statement from the president’s office.
She said that the move should be “explicitly and unequivocally condemned” by the international community, and asked Pope Francis to help garner international support so that the Turkish leadership revokes its decision and restores Hagia Sophia to the status of a protected monument.

Since the CCC explicitly says the Muslims are part of the plan of salvation and adore with us the one, merciful God, I am not sure how the Pope can condemn returning the Hagia back to a Mosque, most especially after the Pachymama service some months back.

For once, inaction might be the smarter route for the Pope. The dictator of Turkey is trying to pick a fight– that’s why he chose today to convert the place which was turned into a museum at the formation of secular Turkey into a mosque.
This isn’t a surprise to anybody who noticed that he really, really wants to be in charge of the Ottoman Empire 2.0.
Maybe Pp. Francis can donate the pachymama to mosque dedication ceremony? And that bowl of dirt sitting on one of the altars inside St. Peter’s basilica? Or send Cocopalmiero, Paglia, & Jim Martin to represent His Holiness & perform a gay ritual as a show of inclusiveness?
Now that would be epic. 😀
Oh, yes, Foxfier, I know. I am aware. But I also know I had a teacher once tell us repeatedly if we had to give a long story to explain why our answer was correct, it was wrong. Most people won’t go back and look at the documents. They’ll simply look at the CCC, read what it says, and make assumptions they probably shouldn’t be making.

And so we have rounds and rounds of interfaith dialogue, make sure we do not discriminate against Muslims or insult Islam, and wonder why they do not reciprocate.

We behave better…well, like the story about the gentleman who was screeched at by a female when he held the door open. “I hold the door because I am an gentleman.”
Oh, the truth is quite insulting enough. They do hold that they follow the God of Abraham– they’re just wrong about Him in pretty much every detail.
