I would not be surprised if this star crossed year is leading up to a Supreme Court nomination fight to end all Supreme Court nomination fights right before a presidential election.

My suspicion would be that it’s pancreatic cancer gone metastatic, and that the lung tumors she had last year are the same business.
It would seem to be appropriate for someone of her faith in which she has trust, to acquaint RBG with the apparently forgotten Jewish doctrine of repentance, reward, punishment and the afterlife.
