If the Lakotas got a cut from the Mt. Rushmore concessions might they change their tune?
Unlikely. They refused to take the $102 million the Supreme Court the U.S. government to pay them for the illegal seizure of the Black Hills. That fund is worth over a billion now.
With that kind of scratch, they could buy out every private landowner inside of the Buffalo Gap and Thunder Basin national grasslands, start up their own bison herd, and go back to a semi-nomdic form of existence if they wanted to.
Why don’t they take the money? Infighting? Corruption? No more poverty with mega bucks used properly. Drug and alcohol
addiction a thing of the past. Schools like St Joseph’s wouldn’t be scrambling for donations.
They don’t want the money. They want the Black Hills for their reservation.
