Omar? No, I suspect that she is there for the shortterm, say no more than three terms if that. Her successor likely will be a Leftist, but not quite as evil as she is.

What’s curious is that the sum of minorities make up just 1/3 of the population and Somalis in particular a low-single-digit share. Yet, it’s been represented in Congress for 12 years by two people of rather…exotic disposition (one with a long history as a Farrakhan votary and the other this wench). No clue why the liberal voters of Minneapolis stick themselves with these cretins, bar that anti-semitism, immigration fraud, black nationalism, and beating your girlfriend aren’t deal-breakers for white liberals.
Art, I may be wrong but I think her district has a very large number of Muslims or is a majority Muslim district, with a large number of Somali. I think they knew whom they were voting for and she does represent their beliefs. Minnesota is not what it used to be.

About 2/3 of the population of that district is white-Anglo. The Census Bureau located about 32,000 Somalis in their 2015 survey of the counties of Hennepin, Ramsay, Anoka, and Dakota. Even if they were all jammed into one district (and the Minneapolis commuter belt can hold 4 districts), they wouldn’t make up more than about 4% of the total population (and a lower share of the voting population).
But Art, do you have data on the estimated voting participation rates of that district? The number of Somalis may be low, but if hypothetically 100% of that 1/3 votes while only 20% of the 2/3rd remainder vote – well there is your explanation.

If one flies into MSP airport you’d think that Somalis a large part of the population. They seem to have many franchises. My cousin tells MN has the second largest concentration of Somalis in the US. Families (tribes) have ties to their homeland pirates and their booty through some sort of tontine.

Explanation of what? Per the Census Bureau, there are 8,100 people in Hennepin County, Mn who identify themselves as over the age of 18, citizens of the United States, and ethnic Somali. Even if every last one lives in her district and every last one voted for her, it only accounts for 1/3 of the 24,000 vote plurality over her main opponent in the Democratic primary last year. About 135,000 people voted in that primary. She defeated a woman named Kelliher who has been kicking around in Minnesota politics for 20 years, held consequential positions in the legislature, and run for statewide office. Omar won close to an absolute majority in a six-candidate field which included one other Somali. Ethnic bloc voting didn’t give you this woman.
The next CIA/NSA/DoJ/FBI espionage operation/coup attempt likely will be to gin up evidence that the Trump 2020 campaign feloniously failed to report in-kind campaign contributions by AOC and Ilham Omar.
My new go-to response to every asinine case of liberals running about with their hair on fire will be “some people did something.” It will be especially useful next time they want to punish 50 million law-abiding gun owners for a hyped gun incident.

Minnesota has many Muslims that may be here illegally & still allowed to vote. Also, many Muslims may have not provided info for the US Census–like if they had overstayed visas, etc.
Also, see the info in the article below. There are other articles with larger numbers including one that says Ethiopian Muslims own 29,000 businesses in the state of MN.

May not be. Democrats do not have an insuperable advantage in Minnesota. Hellary’s plurality there amounted to 1.5% of the ballots and Republicans have a registration advantage in five of the state’s eight congressional districts. The state has a split legislature. A SoCon evangelical won the Governer’s chair as recently as 2006. The current attorney-general was elected with a minority vote and a 4% plurality. That you’re not a lawyer isn’t the greatest sales pitch (though, who knows. The Minnesota electorate appears to be fine with smacking your girlfriend around).

Illegals don’t give their info to the Census Bureau. ROFLOL. Also, the Census Bureau collected their data before Obama moved the last publicized batch of around 70,000 Somali Muslims to the state.
