Gun to a Knife Fight

Remember the outrage among the media when Obama said this back in 2008:

Chozick, June 13, 2008: He [Obama] warned that the general election campaign could get ugly. “They’re going to try to scare people. They’re going to try to say that ‘that Obama is a scary guy,’ ” he said. A donor yelled out a deep accented “Don’t give in!”

“I won’t but that sounded pretty scary. You’re a tough guy,” Obama said.

“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said. “Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

Neither do I.

I’m firmly in the camp of those asking if Trump was trying to lose, how would his campaign look any different. But all the Henny Pennys out there need to be told to stop the thumb sucking and put their big boy pants on.

They should probably change their panties first, though.

The rolling out the opposition’s errors is a common Trump defense, not common here mind you. “Our candidate screwed up, but remember when your guy…” Fix the first part of the sentence, and you won’t be constantly having to tell people what to remember. Fix the first part, and you won’t have waste effort and precious air time playing “But he did it to ma” games.

No I don’t remember the media outrage either. Do I remember right? …that when Gabby Giffords was shot by a crazy man the first response of some was concern about Sarah Palin using target symbols on a map.

Trump has made unforced errors. But not near as many as the media would have you believe. If Trump were perfect, the media/DNC machine would find things wrong with him. This is the politics of personal destruction m–pure & simple. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the media’s bias & hypocrisy. And there are a plethora of both to point out.

The Christian Teacher,
1. Even if you remove Trump’s unearned errors, there is still a treasure trove to work with.
2. The media is biased. What Republican or conservative (not the case with Trump) go into an election and not know this? What has the candidate done to prepare? Trump’s strategy has been not to avoid giving the media ammunition; he’s giving it to them in an effort to rattle their cages and steal the spotlight. Careful. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
3. Pointing out media bias and hypocrisy is okay, but does very little to win an election. Better to use the opportunity to speak to the American people about the subject at heart. For instance, the heart of this issue is the 2nd Amendment. Trump would have been better served using the spotlight on the importance of the 2nd Amendment past, present, and future. Works great for Dems. They get caught trading baby body parts. They pivot the conversation to women’s rights and “health” issues and the positive services PP provides.

The only take away from this micro aggression against the thumb-sucking juice box mafia is that the NRA is about to drop 3 million in support of a fair weather friend.

1. Maybe you think we should have more losing Republican candidates like John McCain and Mitt Romney lose to Hillary. 2. Trump beat 11 other highly qualified men & a woman to prepare. 3. Trump knows about the media. Like GW Bush, he just doesn’t care too much WHAT they say. 4. The media can find and/or make of a treasure trove of horrendous faults for anyone who is running against a liberal Democrat.

1. No. And I lump Trump in that group. What he makes up with the few conservative stands the others don’t have, he loses with his whole style. On the whole, NY Democrat.
2. Trump won because he was running against one other candidate. It was Trump vs. the not Trump. The high number of not Trumps diluted the voting potency of the voting block.
3. Trump cares what the media says. He intends to play them. When Hugh tried to get him to alter his statement about Hillary and ISIS, Hugh provided what he should say. Trump responded saying that’s how Hugh would say it but the way Trump says it will get media attention. He very much cares whether the media is paying attention to him. Not so with GW.
4. With Trump, they don’t need to find faults. Trump delivers right to their door step.

1. You can’t have it both ways.

2. Trump won because he beat everyone else.

3. That was part of his method during the primary. GW Bush won the presidency but lost the US House because of the foolish manner in which he prosecuted the war in the Middle East. As Trump has stated, we would be much better off if GW Bush and Obama had simply stayed home & slept rather than take action in the Middle East. What a complete humanitarian, ongoing, genocidal disaster we have on our hands because of their actions/inactions–with no end in sight.

4. Reread my earlier point on this.
