Today is TrinÂity SunÂday. CenÂturies ago words were writÂten to be a call and a spur to the faithÂful serÂvants of Truth and JusÂtice: “Arm yourÂselves, and be ye men of valÂour, and be in readiÂness for the conÂflict; for it is betÂter for us to perÂish in batÂtle than to look upon the OutÂrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be.
Winston Churchill, Radio Address, June 19, 1940. Churchill was quoting, slightly altered by him, I Maccabees 3: 58-60
58. And Judas said, Arm yourÂselves, and be valiant men, and see that ye be in readiÂness against the mornÂing, that ye may fight with these nations, that are assemÂbled together against us to destroy us and our sancÂtuÂary: 59. For it is betÂter for us to die in batÂtle, than to behold the calamiÂties of our peoÂple and our sancÂtuÂary. 60. NevÂerÂtheÂless, as the will of God is in heaven, so let him do.
