The Great Sin of the Left

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
—Matthew 5:44 (KJV)

The great sin of the left is not that they hate, they corrupt, they lie, they abuse, they traduce, they pervert, they abort, they philander, they euthanize.  It is rather, that by their sins they push us into the arms of The Enemy.   Their actions are so foul that they move us to forget what Christ told us: Love your enemies and bless them that curse you.

I keep trying to remember Matthew 5:44 as the feminists (or, to use Rush Limbaugh’s apt description: “feminazis”) claim that science should be feminist, as ignorant prelates argue that anthropic global warming is the pre-eminent danger and our sin if we let it happen,  as almost all of the Democrat party collude in maligning a good man and threatening his family.

So, Dear Lord, please give me strength to follow You and obey You in loving my enemies.  You forgave us; help us not in forgiving them, but in praying for their reformation.   (I recall Fr. Groeschel’s prayer for Madonna: that she be converted and go to a cloistered nunnery.)

But we have a right to defend ourselves and our families from the bodily harm that these liberals threaten against us by their behavior in public spaces. Think about the harm they threatened Ted Cruz, his wife and his family? And none of us should ever fail in protecting our wives and children from these gangster hoodlums. This is why there is a Second Amendment. God help us.

And then you start hating those notionally on your side for not siding with you the way you think they should: The McCains, the Flakes, the Grahams, the Collinses, the Bishops who simply don’t speak.

After the American bishops returned from Rome to Dallas, they decided to ignore John Paul II’s command to expel any priest guilty of a crime against a minor child. They gave the task to fatherGroeschel who blamed the 14 year old boys for “wanting it” on video available at EWTN.

Lack of respect is not the same as hate. That is what I feel for these hateful and misguided pro-aborts, far leftists, and molesters and enablers of the Church! They do not deserve my respect. I pray for their redemption that they will not die without asking for forgiveness and hopefully having a chance to make amends.

Mary, that is a serious accusation against Fr. Groeschel. I thought he was a good teacher and apologist for the Faith. He spoke at a home schooling conference in the 1990s at which I attended.

Love your neighbor, for sure, but what exactly does that mean? As Aquinas taught us, there is a thing called “a just war.” Also, we are not called “the Church Timid,” but the “Church Militant” for a good reason. And, let us never forget that they crucified Christ because He continued to admonish them, accuse them when necessary, and bluntly warn them of Gehenna.. Try that in your local college today…..

Mary De Voe.

I’m shocked. I never imagined anything like that would be from Fr. Groeschel.
I had always considered him a true son of the Church.
I’ll take your word for it.

My nominee for the left’s greatest sin is hatred (sin against Charity: the greatest cardinal virtue) of normal (becoming militant) Americans and the uses we make of our liberty: religion, arms, hunting, fishing, the internal coal, combustion engines, etc. Blind hatred (emotions) engenders the extreme and hyperbolic dishonesty and stupidity.

They are intent on telling us what we can and can’t do.

Case in point. Past Friday on fb I commented that certain atheists were “heartless” for quashing a HS football team from praying for a small girl with cancer. One of our betters replied that “It’s the law.” I quoted the establishment clause. He went on and on about courts. His final (I signed off there is no cure for dishonest stupidity) response was. “They stopped it before we (note the “we”) sued them.

That is why the Judge Kavanaugh fight is important. Trump 2020.

Fr, Groeschel was part of the problem.

From Wikipedia…
“Groeschel also made controversial comments in a 2012 interview published by the National Catholic Register on August 27 related to the sexual abuse of children by priests: “Suppose you have a man having a nervous breakdown, and a youngster comes after him. A lot of the cases, the youngster — 14, 16, 18 — is the seducer.”

and

“Well, it’s not so hard to see — a kid looking for a father and didn’t have his own — and they won’t be planning to get into heavy-duty sex, but almost romantic, embracing, kissing, perhaps sleeping but not having intercourse or anything like that.”

You can read the whole thing here…
https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/pedophiles-entitled-to-one-get-out-of-jail-free-card-says-priest/comment-page-1/

and

He tried to down play the whole abuse crisis back in 2003 – https://www.bishop-accountability.org/news2003_01_06/2003_03_02_Egerton_PriestPlays.htm

This post is a bit unfair. I knew Fr. Groeschel personally for about 10 years, having met him after his terrible accident in 2004 (he was hit by a car while walking at an airport, and had no vital signs for over 20 minutes). After his accident, he was very weak, exhausted, and in pain most of the time. By the year 2008, he seemed to be stronger and healthier. His talks and homilies were very good and he seemed mentally sharp. However, in 2010, he had a stroke, and then had several other smaller strokes. After his 2010 stroke, his was no longer mentally sharp. His memory was slipping terribly – for example, at times he didn’t recognize people whom he had known for many years. At times, he couldn’t speak in a complete sentence (one could see this on his EWTN show, which, unwisely, was still being produced). Or he had thoughts that he wasn’t able to verbally articulate. Then his memory would come back and he could speak clearly. The biggest effect of the stroke on his mental capacity was this: when talking, he would often shift from one topic to another unrelated topic, thus rendering his talk either incomprehensible, historically wrong, or just plain ridiculous. One case that I’ll never forget: In spring of 2012 he was giving a talk about Blessed John Newman. At the end of the talk he said, “I’m really looking forward to Cardinal Newman being beatified by Pope Benedict soon.” At this point, I knew there was something mentally wrong with Fr. Groeschel. After all, Pope Benedict beatified Cardinal Newman two years earlier, in the UK, during a Papal Visit that was truly historic. It seemed that Fr. Groeschel’s mind was shifting around on the historic timeline, and he had no control over that.

When I heard about his infamous 2012 interview, my immediate reaction was to blame his stroke on what he had said. This was my interpretation then and I’m sticking to it: He began the interview talking about priests who leave the ministry to get married. Then, he’s talking about priests who have abused children. Then, he talks about priests being seduced by the young person. To me, at this point, his mind was shifting all over the place – he wanted to mention that some priests are seduced by women, start a relationship with them, then leave priesthood to get married. But his stroke-effects applied this logic to the priests who have abused children. I was obviously upset at what he said and thought it was very stupid, but I attributed it to his stroke.

I seem to recall that there was a bishop or chancery official ca. 2002 who said that the mistake he’d made was listening to Benedict Groeschel. I’m not sure I’d take that assessment at face value (though its possible Groeschel gave him bad advice). The Boston chancery knew by 1980 that John Geoghan was damaged goods, but it took four separate real-time complaints over the succeeding 12 years to persuade them to put him on ice. These weren’t complaints that he’d fondled some adolescent’s genitals 15 years earlier. These were contemporaneous with the offenses in question and one of them alleged forcible buggery. I doubt Benedict Groeschel advised them to send a priest for sunshine and pinochle when he’d committed a class B felony.

Cam, That is not a charge. That is a fact on video at the time on EWTN. Groeschel disappeared from the screen after that. They are bringing him back. That is their business. I shut the tv off when he comes on.
Fourteen year old children do not have informed sexual consent to give. Groeschell’s collusion with the sexual predators and their enablers is disgusting. Groeschell must have known the mind of John Paul II. Yet he did the bidding of the disobedient bishops. Karl Keating left against the cabal of enablers.
You can trust him if you wish. I trusted a priest and he molested my eleven year old daughter. NO thank you. and I turn off the tv when Pope Bergoglio comes on, too.

A decent human being would provide for the child the corporal and spiritual works of mercy, food, shelter, counseling, education, even really great entertainment, reading to him or her, affection, a mother’s love and kindness. The blind leading the blind, both shall fall into the pit.

An online copy of the letter of Christine Blasey Ford has finally been published. At least one expert thinks she did not write the letter and that some deliberate and obvious errors (such as font size, capitalizations, other) were included in the text—to make her appear as a naive victim?

Thank you, Deacon Philip, for your integrity and also your wife for her integrity. I am grateful for your kind words of support.
I am amazed at the research done and the truth brought to light, all beyond my capabilities.
How sad for Benedict Groeschel that he followed in the way of Satan. John Henry Cardinal Newman, Moses, Elijah all walked with God.
God.
Our Lady, Exterminatrix of Heresies is a picture of Our Blessed Mother with a woman on her knees. The woman’s son is being torn by the devil while the son clings to the tunic Mary is wearing. Mary is wielding a wooden bat about to clobber the old, ugly devil as he deserves.
I remember the American bishops complaining that it cost $ 249,000 to educate a seminarian (like it was their money, not the parishioners’ money) and that it was too expensive to laicize ordained sodomizers.
What is an innocent soul worth? Less than $249,000?
Is “uncle ted”’s ordination valid or is he one of the thousands of men sent into the seminaries to corrupt and destroy the church, against whom Bella Dodd, former communist, bore witness?
The Laying on of Hands became a laying on of hands from the seed of Satan, the whited sepulcher filled with dead men’s bones.
There is the ROCK of Peter. There is the ROCK of Alcatraz where “uncle ted” belongs.
“uncle ted” and all of his minions deserve the stripes they have earned.
Reopen Alcatraz and let Caesar put the scalded demons there. Bergoglio as well. Caesar belongs to God.
Let Benedict XVI reclaim the throne of Peter, where Ratzinger belongs.

Mary, I read JFK’s links and Wise Man’s post. Based on reading Fr. Groeschel’s quotes he was in grave error in his thinking about sex abuse of children, adolescents, and of clergy (seminarians) by the clergy. Also wrong in the Sandusky case. Obviously his treatment was wrong too.
I am sorry for the pain that you, your daughter and your family have endured and are enduring because of a molesting priest.
There have been cases of children molesting children. Several years ago there was a case in Metro DC of a 5 y.o. boy molesting his 18 month female cousin. The boy had been watching his parents’ sex videos and imitated what he saw.
There are seductive children; they are seriously mentally ill or have been repeatedly abused themselves. That said it is not a valid excuse for an adult to molest.

What did Fr. Groeschel ever have to do with the Sandusky case? He had no affiliation with Penn State and the matter only came to light when Fr. Groeschel was an invalid three years away from death.

God is OUR FATHER. Jesus Christ is our brother. It would be incestuous for Jesus Christ to marry one of His sisters.
Godparents are forbidden to marry their Godchildren.
Spiritual fathers do not marry their spiritual children. It is against the Holy Spirit.
Spiritual fathers do not have sex with their spiritual children, nor do spiritual fathers sodomize their spiritual children.
Sodomy is out of order because of the spiritual hierarchy of the human family. Every man is father to every minor child as every woman is mother to every minor child. Every minor child is spiritual family to every spiritual father and spiritual mother.
Every violation of “the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God” is a violation of the transcendent soul of man. Every violation of the transcendent soul of man is a violation of the Holy Spirit. Only the sins against the Holy Spirit are unforgiven.
There is no love and mercy for the devil, nor does the devil want love or mercy.
Married priests, women priests, sodomite marriage, child brides? Not with a rational soul.

Thank you Cam for your generous response. “What does not kill you, makes you stronger”. Groeschel went off the rails when he engaged with the disobedient bishops in Dallas. They claimed that the priest’s education cost $249,000. They ought to get their money back.
Pornography is a lie about human sexuality. Pornography is an addiction. Every addiction is a violation of man’s free will. Free love is only free when it is sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
Homosexuality is an act of nature. Sodomy is a free will act of man. When the sovereign person consents to a sin of magnitude, he excommunicates himself. Where does the soul go when it is excommunicated from the Church and refuses to repent? That soul is owned by the devil and must be exorcised. The herd of 4,000 pigs ran off the cliff and drowned themselves in the sea rather than be possessed by the devil. Seems the pigs have more common sense than sodomites.

ART DECO,
The quote is from The American Conservative by Rod Dreher, 2012
Fr Groeschel:
“Here’s this poor guy — [Penn State football coach Jerry] Sandusky — it went on for years. Interesting: Why didn’t anyone say anything? Apparently, a number of kids knew about it and didn’t break the ice. Well, you know, until recent years, people did not register in their minds that it was a crime. It was a moral failure, scandalous; but they didn’t think of it in terms of legal things.”
Upon second reading of JFK’s 1st link, I think this line is from the author Rod Dreher being sarcastic:
“Yes, Sandusky. That poor, poor guy, probably seduced by all those boys.”

Saint Paul says, “Be angry and do not sin.” And Saint Thomas Aquinas said that if you do not get angry over evil acts, you are amoral. We are commanded to love our enemies, not to like them. Love is an act of the will, while liking and disliking is an involuntary emotional response. One may find various persons to be despicable without despising them.

In defense of Father Groeschel: A generalization does not imply always this and never that. Avoid generalizations.
