At last, a point of agreement:
Pope Francis has told the Italian bishops that it is “not a sin to criticise the Pope here” as he opened their General Assembly.

“Peter has no need of our lies or flattery. Those who blindly and indiscriminately defend every decision of the Supreme Pontiff are the very ones who do most to undermine the authority of the Holy See—they destroy instead of strengthening its foundations.” – Fr. Melchior Cano O.P., Bishop and Theologian of the Council of Trent.
Mark Shea who?
Dear Mary,
You beat me to it.
Dear T. Shaw,
I am still thanking God that you told me about Cooch’s Bridge Battlefield.
God bless.
Okay, we can criticize the pope, but leave that nice Mr.. Shea guy alone….
Of course-hit your forehead with an open palm as you say that-because-hit again-THERE IS NO HELL. Duh! Guy McClung, Texas
Great essay by Dr. Edward Feser on this subject:

Clear, detailed, logical thinking like this is so rare nowadays. The good Doctor would have made an excellent nuclear engineer!
I think you’re giving Shea too much credit here. As his attitude re: the Alfie Evans case showed, he only promotes mindless obedience towards the Pope when he can use it as a stick to beat conservatives with.
