But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;Matt 5:44
I have been much disturbed by the level of hate displayed on the internet, and even in some of the comments about Amoris Laetitia and the Filial Correction letter.. The Left diplays a level of hate and lack of charity that would do credit to a novel by C.S. Lewis: see the report on the CBS lawyer fired for her comments about the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. But we don’t have to emulate that. Pope Francis may be confused, or lack rigor in his theological pronouncements, but we have to assume his motives, possibly misguided, are meant to do good. Let’s take Christ’s command in Matthew 5 to heart. I’ll add that I’ve been guilty myself and will try to do better.
I am guilty also, Dr Kurland. 🙁
Agreed. Let us not add to the hate in the world, the one thing, along with ignorance, that we will never run short of on this planet.
As Michael Voris recently said in a recent episode of The Vortex, “And remember, don’t try to win an argument. The idea is to announce the Truth.”
Sometimes it comes back to bite people– Quick Take #2 over at the Care and Feeding of Geeks ( https://geeklady.wordpress.com/2017/09/29/7-quick-takes-babies-edition/ – I think I found her blog via Darwin’s blog) is a guy who decided to be nasty about a lady letting her baby roll around during an “unexpected delay;” didn’t get the massive “oh, yes, technology, so dehumanizing” support he was expecting. Got schooled in biological needs of babies…..
“Pope Francis may be confused, or lack rigor in his theological pronouncements, but we have to assume his motives, possibly misguided, are meant to do good.”
Not buying this statement. Pope Francis has become a tool of the devil. No where in history have we have a Pope undermining the faith as he does.
The level of hate and rage we see expressed in public life today is astounding.Yesterday after Mass, a middle-aged man who is a frequent
communicant was speaking to a woman out in front of the church. He was
expressing his absolute hatred of Republicans. This hatred he had in his heart as we all prayed together, offered the sign of peace to one another, and received the Lord in the Eucharist. We are not supposed to judge, but the fury and vitriol dripping off his tongue was shocking. He is a Mass goer.
So many do not have any religion at all to balance against the fury of our times. What are we to do?
Susan Varenne said; “So many do not have any religion at all to balance against the fury of our times. What are we to do?”
Start by going to the quote above from Matthews gospel; 5:44. Then honestly do it.
Pray for them.
