Congresswoman Mia Love

Congresswoman Mia Love’s speech to the March for Life.  Keep your eye on this lady.  She may well be the first female president of these United States.  Here is the text of her speech:

41 YEARS AGO, A STRUGGLING COUPLE ARRIVED IN AMERICA. THEY LEFT THEIR COUNTRY, ENTRUSTED THEIR TWO CHILDREN THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE FOR ANOTHER FIVE YEARS IN THE CARE OF FAMILY MEMBERS TO COME HERE TO THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY.   IT WAS INCONVENIENT FOR THEM TO FIND OUT THEY WERE PREGNANT WITH THEIR THIRD BECAUSE BOTH HAD TO WORK MULTIPLE JOBS TO MAKE ENDS MEET. SOME WOULD SAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER TO HAVE AN ABORTION, BUT THIS COUPLE HAD TO MAKE A DIFFICULT CHOICE, PROTECT THE LIFE OF THEIR CHILD OR ALWAYS WONDER WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. OF ALL THE SAD WORDS OF THE TONGUE OR THE PEN, THE SADDEST ARE THESE, IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN.

EACH CHILD BORN AND UNBORN HAS THE POTENTIAL TO OPEN UP OUR WORLD AND TAKE US TO PLACES AND SPACES WE HAVE NEVER IMAGINED. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >> EACH LIVING CHILD CARRIES WITH HIM OR HER THE POTENTIAL FOR GREATNESS. A CHILD BORN TODAY MAY BECOME A DOCTOR THAT CURES CANCER OR ALZHEIMER’S. THAT CHILD MAY BE THE AFTER NOT — ASTRONAUT THAT TAKES THE WORLD TO MARS OR LEADS A GLOBAL BUSINESS. THAT CHILD MAY BECOME A FRIEND THAT SAVES A PEER FROM SUICIDE OR STRENGTHENS HER FAMILY AND NEIGHBOR THAT VOLUNTEERS AND ERADICATES HUNGER, OR A TEACHER WHO INSPIRES A STRUGGLING STUDENT. EVERY TIME WE KILL A CHILD THROUGH ABORTION WE KILL OUR POTENTIAL. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >>

EVERY TIME WE KILL A CHILD, WE SUFFER. WE LOSE A LITTLE OF OURSELVES AND A WHOLE LOT OF OUR FUTURE. WE STRIP OF A CHILD FROM THEIR GOD-GIVEN POTENTIAL WHEN WE AS A SOCIETY ACCEPT ABORTION AS HEALTH CARE. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >>

MY FELLOW AMERICANS, WE CANNOT ACCEPT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN. WE WON’T KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN IF WE ALLOW UNDER ORGANIZATION TO CONVINCE OUR PREGNANT WOMEN THAT THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO ABORT THE POTENTIAL WITHIN THEM. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] WE CANNOT ACCEPT WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN.

WE WILL NOT KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN WHEN AN ORGANIZATION — SO — LIMITS A WOMAN FROM BEING EMPOWERED SO THEY CAN PROFIT. THEY PREFER FOR WOMEN TO BE VICTIMS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT A TRULY EMPOWERED WOMAN PROFITS HERSELF, HER COMMUNITY, AND EVERYONE SHE TOUCHES. WE CANNOT ACCEPT WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >> WHEN THOSE ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROFIT ALLOW OUR CHILDREN IN THE INNER CITIES TO FEEL THAT THEY CAN ONLY BE EMPOWERED WITH A LIFE BY ENDING A LIFE, NO, WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THAT. [APPLAUSE] [CHEERS] >>

INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO THE HAUNTING REFRAINS OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN, WE MUST INSTEAD FOCUS ON WHAT IS TO COME. [APPLAUSE] >> DURING THE OTHER MARCH IN WASHINGTON LAST WEEK, I SAW THE PICTURE OF A BLACK TEENAGE GIRL IN THE CROWD WHO WAS HOLDING A SIGN THAT SAID I SURVIVED ROE V WADE. [APPLAUSE] >> THAT WOMAN BEAT THE ODDS AND WAS BORN INTO A WORLD THAT FAR TOO OFTEN WOULD SEE THE ABORTION OF A BLACK GIRL RATHER THAN THE LIFE OF A BLACK GIRL. SHE COULD NOT BECOME PART OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN, BUT TODAY IS PART OF WHAT IS AND WHAT MIGHT COME. [APPLAUSE] >>

I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT SHE AND THOUSANDS LIKE HER BECOME IN THE YEARS AHEAD. SHE MAY BE OUR ASTRONAUT OR DID — MAYBE THAT DOCTOR THAT CURES CANCER. SHE MAY BE A MOTHER, A TEACHER, A DAUGHTER, AND A FRIEND. SHE REPRESENTS WHAT IS TO COME. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >>

41 YEARS AGO, THAT COUPLE FROM HAITI COULD HAVE MADE THE CHOICE TO ABORT, BUT THEY DIDN’T. THEY CHOSE LIFE. THEY DID NOT CHOOSE WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. THEY CHOSE WHAT IS TO COME. THEY WENT AND FOLLOWED AND FOSTERED THAT LIGHT AND THE FUTURE AND THE DREAMS THAT BABY WOULD BRING. I AM CERTAIN THIS COUPLE WOULD NEVER HAVE THOUGHT THAT THAT CHILD WOULD BECOME THE FIRST BLACK FEMALE REPUBLICAN EVER ELECTED TO CONGRESS. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE]

THANK YOU >> THANK YOU — >> THANK YOU >> MORE THAN THAT — [LAUGHTER] [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >> MORE THAN THAT, THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE DREAMED THAT SHE WOULD GROW UP TO FIGHT FOR ALL CHILDREN AND THOSE YET TO BE BORN.

WE ALL HAVE TALENTS. WE ALL HAVE GIFTS. WE ALL HAVE A PURPOSE. AND ALL OF THIS FOR THE BENEFIT OF US AND OUR SOCIETY, ALL WE ARE ASKING IS THAT WE NO LONGER SETTLE FOR WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN. WE EMBRACE THE POSSIBILITIES OF THAT LIFE TO COME. THEY WILL DREAM. THEY WILL CREATE. THEY WILL ADD THE COLORS TO THE FABRIC OF OUR LIVES.

MAY GOD BLESS OUR WOMEN THAT ARE STRUGGLING WITH UNPLANNED PREGNANCIES, MAY WE LOVE THEM, MAY WE EMBRACE THEM, AND MAY WE HELP THEM DISCOVER THEIR POWER, THEIR POTENTIAL, BUT MAY WE NEVER, EVER ALLOW OUR FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE DEATH OF YOUNG CHILDREN. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE] >> MAY GOD SPARE THEM. MAY GOD BLESS YOU FOR BEING HERE TODAY, AND MAY GOD BLESS OUR PRO-LIFE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. [CHEERS] [APPLAUSE]

This was my third March for Life and during it the sense of hope was overwhelming. My wife and I arrived early to be near the stage. We stood among teenagers from Louisiana and Georgia who are dedicated to the ending of the abortion holocaust in America. Congresswoman Love’s speech touched everyone around me… the roars of approval, appreciation and love are only partially captured in this recording. God Bless her and God Bless the United States.

Very good.
What might of been… indeed.

Emmett McSweeney.
Your description of the atmosphere surrounding the March for Life and Mia’s plea for life was great. The energy must of been incredible.
Keeping the pressure on!

Please consider joining us on the public square come Saturday.

Let’s never wonder “what might have been,” but instead, enter into this battle of what is to come…..The Right to Life.

Of the 60,000,000 killed, none of them, not one of them, will ever live on this earth; because each of them, every single one of them was unique. Not one of them will ever be duplicated in all eternity. In all my sins, I hope that by being a voice for those still warm and happy in their mommy’s wombs, that when I am judged some of them will speak up for me in their small loving voices and say “Forgive this man, he was our voice when no one could hear us.” Guy McClung, San Antonio Texas

McClung.

It’s sobering.
Please allow me to piggyback your hope if I may.
Reminds me of Our Lord saying in effect, that since you have given witness for my behalf, I shall give witness on your behalf to Our Father when you stand before him.
Paraphrasing of course…but sobering and hopeful none the less.

Emmett, how was the turnout this year compared to previous?

I thought that this year’s turnout was larger but last year’s attendance was lower because of the snowstorm that paniced many marchers.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn’t trust any source who wasn’t there as a participant.

My parish bus was one of the ones that panicked and didn’t go last year. Comparing to previous years, I thought this was the biggest crowd I’ve seen. It was the furthest from the stage that I’ve been during the rally. While marching up Constitution Ave, I thought the crowd was pretty good sized. Then I looked back and saw the official beginning of the March was behind me. That “pretty good sized” crowd I was in was a small fraction of the total.
