On Vacation 2016

I am on vacation with my family until July 26.  My internet connection in the coming week will range from intermittent to non-existent. That is now by choice.  In the past it was not, but now with ubiquitous wi-fi, and my wife’s phone that can serve as a mobile hot spot, that is no longer the case, and truth to tell, it hasn’t been for the last several years.  I will have posts for each day I am away on the blog, but if something momentous occurs, for example:  Elvis is discovered working at a Big Boy’s in Tulsa, the Pope issues a Bull against blogging as a complete waste of time, Trump admits that some orange furred critter has died on his head or Hillary files suit against Satan for the recovery of her soul, I trust that this post will explain why I am not discussing it.

We will begin up in Kenosha, Wisconsin with a visit to my bride’s mother.  We have been doing this since the birth of the twins and it has always been a fun family gathering.  Then it is back home for some Illinois activities.  GenCon will come later during the first week in August.  Unfortunately I have a case that will eat up Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday up to noon of that week.  It will not interfere with GenCon, but it does mean that we had to separate that from our annual trip to Wisconsin.  So, On Wisconsin!

Have a refreshing vacation Mr.McClarey.
My wife was from Watertown WI.
Our favorite pilgrimages was a thirty minute drive to the Basilica of Holy Hill, Mary help of Christians. OCD monastery. A deep well for the soul! You probably have visited it in years past. My old confessor, Monsignor Michael Griffin, past away this Spring. A great author and teacher. If you go, please remember his soul in prayer.

Have a good rest.

Don’t publish this comment. I’d suggest, for your own safety, that you take this post down. You just announced when your home will be vacant. Burglers watch for posts such as this. Just a suggestion.

Hmmmm…..Wisconsin is home to the two Point Beach nuclear power plants, each 620 MWe Westinghouse PWRs. Nearby Keewanee, a 550 MWe Westinghouse PWR, was shutdown due to competition with polluting natural gas (methane – CH4). And Lacross, a 50 MWe GE BWR, was an early demonstration nuke shotdown decades ago and in SAFSTOR. Sadly, that is all I know about Wisconsin.
.
Safe journey, Donald McClarey, and Point Beach will keep the lights on for you whenever you go in Wisconsin!

Interesting video re pronunciation.
Except for the short ‘a’ as opposed to the long ‘a’, most of those speakers could be inhabitants of NZ – some from the North, some from the South.
But you would have to exclude the Scottish influence from Invercargill and Dunedin, and the English influence from Christchurch. 🙂

A beautiful state….Wisconsin Dells and vistas from river and lake shores. New Glarus sausages and cheeses, Breweries and micro breweries. Have a wonderful family vacation!
My maternal grandfather was first generation Austrian/German from Fountain City WI on the Mississippi. As a devout Catholic country doctor in MN and WI, he baptized babies as soon as the baby’s head crowned. House calls were made via a horse drawn cutter in the winter and horse and buggy in pleasanter weather. He never lost a patient during the Great Influenza Epidemic. Some of his practice was pro bono and when times were tough he accepted payment in vegetables and poultry. I cherish the memories of summers spent with grandparents in MN and WI. Now I travel annually to visit their graves.
