High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air….
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
– Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.”

I love your blog. It keeps me connected to my love for my country, even when my fellow citizens acclaim a man like Trump. America has a history and heritage and many brave men who did brave deeds to bequeath to us this great nation, and your blog consistently honors this.
I know this post refers to the Ascension, but if I may, please allow me to link an Air Force video to High Flight. I know we are to remember the Ascension, but I recommend this too. I flew the T-38 Talon back in the day; the most fun I will ever have on earth was in that plane. Our destiny is in those clouds. Keep perspective. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-tfKjubHJ7c

Thank you for your kind words Brian. One of our chief goals is honor the noble, good and brave. Those who pilot planes will always fit at least one of those categories.
