Ted Cruz Tells the Plain Truth About Trump

If Cruz had done this three months ago, we would be looking at a different race:

Ted Cruz had a media availability Tuesday morning and responded to Donald Trump accusing his father of being associated with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to assassinating John F. Kennedy. This led Cruz to rip into Trump, calling him more of a narcissist than President Obama. Cruz went on a rant for 10+ minutes criticizing Trump for attacks on his wife, saying she apparently is “not pretty” enough for the Republican front-runner, his morality and religious devotion. Transcript of key part:

CRUZ: I’m going to tell you what I really think of Donald Trump. This man is a pathological liar. He doesn’t know the difference between truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth. And in a pattern that I think is straight out of a psychology textbook, his response is to accuse everybody else of lying.

He accuses everybody on that debate stage of lying. And it’s simply a mindless yell. Whatever he does, he accuses everyone else of doing. The man cannot tell the truth, but he combines it with being a narcissist. A narcissist at a level I don’t think this country has ever seen.

Donald Trump is such a narcissist that Barack Obama looks at him and goes, ‘Dude, what’s your problem?’ Everything in Donald’s world is about Donald. And he combines being a pathological liar, and I say pathological because I actually think Donald, if you hooked him up to a lie detector test, he could say one thing in the morning, one thing at noon and one thing in the evening, all contradictory and he’s pass the lie detector test each time. Whatever lie he’s telling, at that minute he believes it.

Cruz on his wife:

CRUZ: The man is utterly amoral. Morality does not exist for him. It’s why he went after Heidi directly and smeared my wife, attacked her. Apparently she’s not pretty enough for Donald Trump. I may be biased, but I think if he’s making that allegation, he’s also legally blind.

Cruz said Trump’s insecurity is the reason why he “builds giant buildings and puts his name on them.”

CRUZ: Every one of us knew bullies in elementary school. Bullies don’t come from strength, bullies come from weakness. Bullies come from a deep, yawning cavern of insecurity. There is a reason Donald builds giant buildings and puts his name on them everywhere he goes.

And I will say there are millions of people in this country who are angry. They’re angry at Washington, they’re angry at politicians who have lied to them. I understand that anger. I share that anger. And Donald is cynically exploiting that anger, and he is lying to his supporters. Donald will betray his supporters on every issue.

If you care about immigration, Donald is laughing at you. And he’s telling the moneyed elites he doesn’t believe what he’s saying. He’s not going to build a wall. That’s what he told The New York Times. He will betray you on ever you issue across the board. And his strategy of being a bully in particular is directed at women. Donald has a real problem with women.

Go here to read the rest.  Trump is the type of slime that gives slime a bad name.  Trump can kiss the idea that the Republican Party is going to be unified behind him after the convention good bye.

Trump can kiss the idea that the Republican Party is going to be unified behind him after the convention good bye.

To steal a line from someone on twitter:
Trump: Unify behind me.
Trump next breath: Hey, I think Ted Cruz’s father killed JFK.

If Cruz survives Indiana, maybe he’s got a theme for the rest of the pre-season to the silly season.

I like a guy who goes down fighting. But not good when he goes down lying. Lying Ted. But to show his magnanimity Trump will surely forgive him and may even appoint him to the Supreme Court.

This is the most ugly and divisive election season I have ever seen. I think the finally contest will be between Hillary and Donald, with Bernie running as 3rd party Socialist and Ted running as 3rd party Conservative (or whatever). Someone told me that in such a scenario even Bernie could win because the ignorant college student millennials and the drop out senior citizen hippies of the 1960s will all vote for him. 🙁

You know what Michael you’ve had your chance to present intelligent and cogent arguments on your preferred candidate’s behalf. Now when confronted with yet another stack of Trump lies, your move is to somehow attack Cruz as lying. Enough. As my ancestors would say, ciao.

Yesterday on Glenn Reynolds’s Instapundit site, Ed Driscoll quoted Hot Air’s Allahpundit on the incident:

“At least I think it’s a Trump supporter,” Allahpundit quips. “This guy comes off as more of a parody of a Trump supporter, unable to explain why he likes Trump except that he likes ‘the wall,’ so who knows. Confrontation videos like this are always eye-of-the-beholder stuff, though, so Cruz fans will probably see it as a case of Cruz showing admirable patience in trying to reason with an opponent and Trump fans will probably see it as Sunglasses having dropped a sick burn on Lyin’ Ted, bro. Here’s a fun idea, though: Re-interview this guy a year from now after Trump has gone down in flames and President Hillary’s preparing to sign an amnesty bill that Chuck Schumer just ushered through a Democratic Senate. See what he thinks about the wall then.” [emph. added]

Michael Dowd, for all intents and purposes, is that guy.

Speaking of Glenn Reynolds, and with the previous post’s “Trump Watch” in mind, that “another rube self-identifies” meme he’s had going these last eight years isn’t going to seem quite as schadenfreude-licious when it’s ostensibly conservative rubes who are doing the self-identifying.

In evidence of which I offer Andrew McCarthy’s observations (also shamelessly lifted from Instapundit):

Mark this down: Trump is running as the immigration scourge, but there is no way the wall is happening, and there is no way the Muslim moratorium is happening. If elected, after due hemming and hawing, Trump would state the obvious: It would be impractical and prohibitively expensive to arrest and deport 11 million people just so we can bring them back again. But he would also claim that his victory was a mandate for the ultimate objective of his immigration proposal: the granting of amnesty to millions of illegal aliens through a legal process. The Trump administration would thus dispense with any talk of deportations, and proceed promptly to the legalization part of the plan.
.
Donald Trump is the amnesty candidate. If he had made that clear to Republican voters at the beginning, he would already be out of the race.

I thought Michael said he was kidding on the other thread, then three hours later he posted this?

Curious, huh?

Cruz likely didn’t tell the truth when he called Trump a ‘serial philanderer”. The word ‘serial’ could easily be too inexact and limiting to describe the real Donald Trump.
