Heterodox Rising

bizarro-code

Pat Archbold at Creative Minority Report, with tongue firmly thrust into cheek:

I had a nightmare fueled by my irrational reactionary dread of everything new that causes me to see a crisis where none exists.

I dreamed that a priest who openly and proudly contradicts Church teaching on homosexuality, a stance that previously had him banned from speaking at a Caritas event by the Vatican in another time, had just been appointed by the Pope to a prominent position as Consultor to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

I really must stop letting my fevered imagination get the better of me.

From Rorate Caeli:

The Vatican Bollettino for today reports that Fr. Timothy Radcliffe OP, has been appointed by Pope Francis as Consultor to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. The former Master General of the Dominican Order is a prominent supporter of the Kasperite proposal in favor of communion for the “divorced and remarried”. He has also spoken out in favor of the ordination of women, if not to the priesthood, then at least to the diaconate (see this.) However he is more famous for his frequent public interventions pushing for greater acceptance of homosexuality, having been a frequent celebrant of the infamous “gay Masses” in Soho, London. Rorate has noted his blatant support for homosexuality a couple of times (see this and this – scroll to the bottom of each post).

It is true that Radcliffe has “opposed” “gay marriage”, but his farcical “opposition” rests on grounds entirely contrary to those of the Church: Radcliffe opposes it because, in his words: “‘gay marriage’ ultimately, we believe, demeans gay people by forcing them to conform to the straight world.” His support for civil “same sex unions” and his lavish praise of homosexual “love” are a matter of public record, and led to repeated attempts last year by good and devout Catholics to prevent him from talking at the Divine Mercy Conference in Ireland (see this and this) and in San Diego, California (see this report on the Wanderer), as well as in the Flame 2 Youth Conference this year in London (read this). All these attempts failed — and Radcliffe’s acceptability has just received a major upgrade with this latest appointment. A tremendous slap to the face of so many good Catholics who had opposed him out of fidelity to the faith…

Radcliffe is not the only Dominican liberal and dissident riding high these days. Today’s appointment comes only 4 days after Fr. Gustavo Gutierrez OP starred as the main speaker at a Vatican press conference. Another rising Dominican dissident is Bishop Jean Paul Vesco of Oran (Algeria), a young bishop (53 years old) who was provincial of the French Province of the Order of Preachers from 2010 to 2012 and a high-profile supporter of the Kasper proposal since last year; he is set to be a delegate to the 2015 Synod of Bishops.
Doesn’t it seem like an awfully long time ago, in reality just over two years, when Catholics could look to the Pope to be the protector of orthodoxy and the scourge of the heterodox?  This is the bizarro pontificate where everything is opposite.

A priest and I were planning a Day of Recollection for college students. I suggested the topic “Why Be Catholic” . Father agreed – and when both showed up for our planning meeting, we each brought a book – his by Timothy Radcliffe “what is point of being Christian? Mine by B16 “”What it means to be a Christian”

I have no solution to this problem other than to keep reporting the truth, keep our eyes on Jesus, keep on reading our Bible, keep on praying the Rosary, keep on going to Mass and keep on going to Confession. I do not know what else to do. It is otherwise very frustrating and demoralizing.

Well said, Paul. We will continue to deal with wolves in sheep’s clothing as long as the earthly church exists. Thank God for sites like this where the truth is still reported. What troubles me greatly, though, are the allegedly orthodox Catholics who see no evil and hear no evil from this pontiff.

I agree with Paul W. and the Father of Seven. The Church is in darkness and the devil is having his day. Reading and writing about all of this is a form of penance. We need a miracle of grace. Let us pray that it happens soon.

Saint Paul of the Cross wrote; “We enter on the broad road of perdition when we neglect prayer.”

It is almost impossible to imagine a pontiff that is neglectful in prayer.

I said “almost.”

Pray for priests, Bishops, all consecrated religious….and especially the Pope.

If you can, bring these prayers to Jesus while you adore Him in adoration.
This is efficacious. For the Holy Church, for those in error and for you. Our time is providential. You and I must pray more often and from our hearts if we truly want to protect our brothers and sisters from wolves within our Holy Church.

Paul WP, Father 7, Michael D-And here is the difficult one for me: try to be charitable in every action every day, try to be Mother Teresa for all those who are dying, including those who are spiritually dying. I so want God’s justice for these folks-and justice like thunderbolts this moment right now for them all-but God’s unfathomable infinite mercy for me. Guy McClung, San Antonio

All these have been prophesied in Sacred Scriptures.
BTW things are going to get worse. Much worse even when the present Francis papacy ends.
It is all part of the strategy to bring down more and more people to a bad place. We all need to wise up.

.
It is all a package. If someone is not caught in the trap of Sodomy; another trap is waiting; and yet another trap is waiting.
And all these traps are signs of the End-Time.

@Paul W Primavera: Even though it is discouraging, yours is the solution. Jonathan Cahn of the Harbinger fame preaches and says we should count ourselves lucky to be in times like these and embrace them. Paraphrasing: As the darkness gets darker, the light[s] should get brighter. Therefore we ought to take great care of our prayer, frequent the sacraments [you left out the Eucharist], and perform with great devotion our other norms of piety. Our Associate Pastor preached to us on Ash Wednesday that ISIS [perhaps a parishioner had expressed their anxiety to him]is cast out by prayer – no better weapon than the Holy Rosary you mentioned – and fasting.

ST. ATHANASIUS

“Thus, the more violently they try to occupy the places of worship, the more they separate themselves from the Church. They claim that they represent the Church; but in reality, they are the ones who are expelling themselves from it and going astray. Even if Catholics faithful to Tradition are reduced to a handful, they are the ones who are the true Church of Jesus Christ.”
