PopeWatch: Address Congress

VATICAN-POPE-AUDIENCE

Well this should be interesting:

Pope Francis will address a joint meeting of the House and Senate on Sept. 24, becoming the first pontiff to do so, House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday.

“We’re humbled that the Holy Father has accepted our invitation and certainly look forward to receiving his message on behalf of the American people,” Boehner, R-Ohio, told reporters.

Pope Francis addressing Congress.  What could possibly go wrong?

  1. What an opportunity to correct Catholic politicians as to the intrinsic evil abortion poses….and while he is at this (cough cough)…he could even advise them that they should abstain from Holy Communion until they reconcile with God, and then they could start promoting the sanctity of life..cough.

    Pipe dream. 🙁

  2. This is fitting. Because we now have a Modernist “pontiff” who is the moral equivalence of a politician. Birds of a feather…

The Church is officially a Governmental Organization. Just like this pope keeps stating in his usual backwards double-negative sophistry:

“The Church is not an NGO (non-governmental organization)” – Pope Francis

  3. Just dreaming here…
I wish his writers and secretaries would find that speech that Mother Teresa gave the U.N. and use that as a scaffold for his speech.

  4. Can’t wait to see the photo-ops. it’s got to be Hillary’s big moment., Nancy P., too. Perhaps there will be a plenary indulgence for Democrats. And, of course, we look forward to SNL episodes. Wish John Belushi could return to play the key role.
